This was my first weekend since kids started back to school on Wednesday. Translation? I went to bed early every night and did absolutely nothing. There’s just something about getting back into the swing of things at the beginning of a school year that just wears a teacher out! I told Dustin to think of it this way–while he was working this summer and I was at home, I talked to no one. Now I’m talking constantly all day long and at an elevated voice level for all of my students to hear. I. AM. SO. TIRED.
Friday
I took zero pictures. I got home. Laid on the couch for a little bit. Dustin and I decided to go out to eat because I had no energy to cook. Then I fought sleep until I decided to go to be at 9 o’clock.
Saturday
I slept 11 glorious hours! I don’t even think I slept that long all summer so you know I was exhausted.
I got out and ran 3 miles = tough. I let my running slide this summer because of the heat. Hopefully I’ll have time this week to go run at the gym since it’s supposed to rain every day.
Then I cleaned the house, and since it rained most of the day, I read a book. We also waited around for our mattress to get delivered and they called about 5:30 PM letting us know that the truck had broken down and we couldn’t get our mattress until Sunday.
[Side note: We bought a mattress from Mattress Firm two weeks ago. They delivered a week later. One of the box springs was broken (apparently king size beds get 2??) and the mattress had black stuff all over the side and part of the top. They sent us another mattress Friday. It was even worse–it had lots of black smudges and so Dustin refused it. I didn’t find this out until I came home from school. Truck broke down Saturday. At this point, we decided that if we didn’t get a mattress on Sunday that we would ask for our money to be refunded and go down the road to another mattress store.]
Sunday
Selfie after church on Sunday!
And then we tried out the self-timer. We’ll need some practice.
The mattress people arrived!!
Dustin’s feelings toward this whole mattress process.
I quickly snapped this to show y’all how he went out to greet the delivery guys and talk to them as they brought our mattress in.
And it is a keeper!!!!! We ended up getting a Tempur-Pedic Flex–which is their latest model–and we can’t wait to try it out! Hopefully no more backaches!
That night Dustin grilled and my dad came to eat with us. We love having people come eat, and we always pray that our cooking turns out ha!
