Happy 2022!!! Just like everyone else is posting about health/wellness/fitness goals for 2022, so am I 🙂 I did read a caption from a Peloton instructor yesterday that really made me think–she said that success starts small, what you allow will continue, and January 1st is arbitrary.
SO TRUE!!!! 2022 is not a “New Year, New Me!” but rather a New Year and a me that’s going to make better choices. As I continue to make my health a priority this year, I have to remind myself of those 3 statements above.
Today I want to share a few things from 2021 that have been so helpful to me when it comes to health and wellness!
New Sports Bra
You can’t see a great picture, but I bought the sports bra above back in July and I LOVE IT! For someone who has a bigger chest, it’s hard to find a high impact sports bra that doesn’t feel like I’m wearing a coat of arms. This one is true to size and it honestly keeps everything still and NOT MOVING during a high impact workout!!
Magnesium
I follow a few different functional medicine doctors, and all of them talk about our deficiency in magnesium. It makes sense because of how our foods are processed now and even the lack of nutrient dense soil our foods are grown in. I’ve started taking magnesium and the number one area in my life that I can tell it’s affected (for the better) is my digestive system. I’m not going to get TMI on here about that haha but you need to go look up Dr. Robert Yang on IG and watch his magnesium highlight to figure out how much to take and all of its benefits.
Hydration
Another thing these functional medicine doctors have been talking about a lot (and also Kelly LeVeque if you follow her…she’s great) is the fact that we actually need more sodium in order to be hydrated properly–and I’m not talking about sodium from processed foods haha! If you check out any of these hydration additives like LMNT and Liquid IV, they are a bit expensive. I asked for a box of LMNT for Christmas from my nephew so I could try them out without feeling guilty about spending the money on them. The first packet was a shock at how salty it tasted so I didn’t even finish it–it basically tasted like a salty orange gatorade. Then I read that they are really good drink before a workout because you need to be properly hydrated before exercising. I did that next and WOW! I could really tell a difference at my energy level when riding my Peloton. I drink a half a packet before working out and then drink the other half while I work out.
Counting Macros
I am no where near finished counting macros but I started at the end of August counting macros with Geaux Macros and I haven’t looked back. it was definitely a learning curve after being so used to the Weight Watchers mindset for over 10 years, but to me, counting macros is sustainable and I am eating plenty of food–and drinking prosecco, as seen above! I haven’t lost a ton of weight BUT I wish I would have taken measurements in the beginning because I can already tell I’m down a pant size and my clothes are fitting so much better (and some are looser). I can tell in the picture above that my face is slimmer than it was when I started in August. I did terrible in December with half-way tracking or allowing too many tastes of this sweet or that, so I’m learning from those choices and doing better now that Christmas is over! I use this food scale to weigh my food!
Well, that’s it! I know that isn’t a ton of info, but these are the new things I’ve started in 2021 that I’m carrying over into 2022. I still am obsessed with my Peloton but that was a 2019 purchase that I am so thankful for! I hope to be back to blogging soon, but not regularly until we get a new computer–our Mac is now considered ancient and is also acting like it LOL
Have a great 2022!!

I’ve been thinking about starting magnesium, but I’ve been hesitant because of some of the potential side effects. Have you had any negative side effects from taking it?
