Boy, have I missed this blog! I know this year is unique and has been hard on everyone, but it’s been really hard to teach this year–it’s stressful and overwhelming, and we’re about to take state testing which has been even more of a stressor. But I know everyone is feeling it! This year, instead of blogging at night after Harrison goes to bed, I’ve chosen to unwind by either reading, watching tv, or falling asleep within an hour of putting H down LOL!
Anyway, since my blogging has been extremely sporadic (I promise to get better!!), I thought I’d share a little life lately. (I’m on spring break so I’ve also got extra time haha!)
Harrison turned TWO on February 27th, but we had his party the week before. We live near our local private airport, so on pretty days, we are constantly seeing little planes fly. Harrison LOVES the airplanes, so his party theme was “Time Flies” and I found a bubble from Little English with an airplane embroidered on it to base the decor around. It was a small, immediate family party, but so fun!
For Valentine’s Day this year, Dustin went above and beyond by surprising me a few days early. He had prearranged babysitting, had bought me a dress to wear, and made reservations at one of my favorite restaurants, Cotton Row. Anytime we eat there, we always go all out–drinks, apps, entrees, and dessert! This time, we got to sit in the wine cellar and it was my favorite–so intimate and romantic. If you’re ever in Huntsville, you need to make reservations to eat at Cotton Row. I think there may be a dress code (??), and we always dress up every time we go–I’ve never seen anyone in jeans, fyi.
After church pictures on the front porch!
We read every night before Harrison goes to bed. I am usually the reader, but occasionally Dustin will read!
Harrison loves going to my mom and stepdad’s farm and helping out. She had a new duck to show him recently and he was not sure how he should act haha! He really enjoys feeding the chickens and making cow noises.
We honestly haven’t gone out to eat as a family much at all in the last year–which worried me because I know this is a formative time in Harrison’s life and I want to make sure he learns appropriate behavior in a restaurant. We went out to a local burger place one night and he had the time of his life! All of the waitresses loved talking to him 🙂
I took this picture yesterday and love it 🙂 The weather was perfect and Harrison is such an outside baby–which is so great because it keeps Dustin and I outside constantly.
What’s been happening in your life lately? I miss interacting with y’all!

I hear ya!
Working in education has been exhausting. I too am on spring break and the pause from the demands of work has been needed and I am so grateful.

Working in education has been a marathon this year — one run through mud, uphill, wearing a fifty pound backpack, in the heat, where they keep moving the finish line. It’s just exhausting.
Your son is so cute and I love his birthday theme!

I’m so glad to see you back in this space, although I completely understand why it had to take a back seat. This past year has been nuts, and all of you teachers have been true HEROES!! I can’t even imagine the amount of extra work you have had to take on this past year!! I don’t blame you one bit for ditching the blog for a bit!
