Woohoo, it’s September! Like everyone else out there, I’m pretending that it’s finally fall while I still sweat in 90 degree weather ;). BUT there is a hint of fall weather sometimes and those moments give me hope that fall isn’t far away.
So as usual, today I’m sharing a few FAVORITES with y’all!
ONE
We are in full swing with soccer over here in the Shaneyfelt household. We’ve got 2 games a week and last night’s game was very representative of the above picture–Harrison lazily walking in one direction making noises with his mouth while his opponent behind him runs toward the ball LOL! Last night was a circus and there were many times I just had to laugh and quit yelling at him to run after the ball….or pay attention to the ball!
TWO
My mom put on a major event at the school she teaches at, so Harrison and I surprised her in the middle of the school day to celebrate her and her hard work! We even got to take a hayride and it was lots of fun! (And while he doesn’t look thrilled, he was!)
THREE
I know I’ve talked about this book a lot recently, but I can’t stop talking about it BECAUSE I LOVE IT SO MUCH!! I am currently in the last chapter and almost done. I love that this book explains how an ordinary day should spur us toward worship–from waking in the morning to going to bed at night. I cried a few times during the chapter on friendship because not only did she explain the beauty of Christian friendships, but she also tied in the local church body, too. Right now I’m reading the last chapter on sleep and she’s explained how God created our body with limitations and getting rest is admitting your limits and also realizing that there is One who never needs rest and we can trust in Him for our hope.
One thing that I also love is how this book is structured. It’s broken down into lots of little sections and it’s been great while reading in the morning after I read my Bible because I don’t feel pressured to read a ton–just a small section. There’s also a section in the back with discussion questions–I’m thinking about getting a group together to read and discuss this book because I love it that much haha!
FOUR
We had team shirt day at school earlier this week and while everyone else wore a football jersey or shirt, my bff Hailey and I showed up wearing the same shirt! We may not get to teach together like we used to, but this shows we’re still connected because we also showed up the day before in pretty much the same outfit except mine was a shirt and hers was a dress!
FIVE
I just had to replace my blush since I was out and bought this! (I got the color Quirk). I’ve been using cream blush for about a year now and I will probably never go back to powder blush–cream just stays on all day whereas my powder blush would disappear. A little goes a long way with this blush because it glides on so smoothly, and I just rub it in with my fingers.
I hope y’all have a great, long weekend! My fall decorations have been sitting in the floor by the back door for a couple of days and I’m finally going to put them out after school today!

That sounds like the same way my boys used to play soccer! LOL My middle son just loved to run and he spent the whole game running from one goal to the other– never caring at all where the ball was.

Here’s to September! SoCal is having a bit of a heat wave so summer is hanging around, in my corner of the woods.
I put fall up after 10/16 and than that stays up till Thanksgiving.
Tend to decorate with pumpkins out front and fall candles not too much else.
