Happy Friday!! It’s been a great (but rainy) start to the summer here. Today I’m sharing a few FAVORITES with y’all!
one

We started out the week with two babies who wanted a snack and then proceeded to pour the whole bag out, spread them around on the floor, and then eat them off the floor. Once I realized what they were doing, I swept them up. But you know what, if this is how our summer is going to be….it could be worse ๐

Sunday it was raining and while Dustin was busy talking to someone about baseball, the kids decided to use the hearth at church as a stage. Then a few other kids came and joined them and we had lots of performers haha!

I sent this to my cousin showing her the cups my kids use and I wanted to share with y’all! The boys use these smaller Yetis and it’s perfect for them. They tote them around and it keeps their water cold throughout the day. For Merritt, I was tired of her drinking out of the plastic cups they make for babies who transition out of bottles into cups with straws. Those Yetis the boys have are still too clunky and big for her, so my mom had found this new cup last fall. It’s glass and encased in silicone and it’s supposed to be shatter proof. I bought Merritt one for Christmas and it’s been THE BEST! It keeps her water cool and it makes me feel good that she’d not drinking out of plastic all day. We’ve also dropped it a lot and so far, it’s been unbreakable like the company said.

I have a FANTASTIC book to share with y’all! I read it earlier this month and so far, it’s my favorite read of 2026.

The Indigo Girl takes place during colonial America and it’s based on a true story. Eliza’s father is in the King’s army and is sent to the Bahamas because tensions with the Spanish are high. He leaves his 16 year old daughter in charge of his plantations (I think 3) and they are almost in financial ruin. She is determined to grow indigo in South Caroline and if you read the author’s note in the back, she’ll explain why South Carolina’s state flag is indigo blue :). It’s a fantastic book and I read it quickly because I was so involved in the story line of wanting to know what would happen next.

Another book rec that was my top read of 2026 until I read The Indigo Girl is The Girls in the Stilt House. It takes place during the 1920s in Mississippi and centers on two girls–Ada and Matilda. Both girls are in similar socio-economic situations but they are also different, too. This is a book that makes your heart ache but also makes you root for the girls, too.
Both books recs are historical fiction, and both are totally different from one another! I highly recommend them in you need something to read this summer!
I hope y’all have a great weekend!!
