It’s time for another Sense of Sarah post!! I haven’t done one of these in forever and I hope to do a lot more of these once the new year starts (I also have lots of new stuff planned for my blog in the new year, too, but that’s another post!).
Today I want to talk to you about my nightly routine. It’s something that I’m still adding to as I learn about new and better ways to take care of my skin.
Embarrassingly, it’s only within the last two years that I’ve really put forth effort to consistently take care of my skin. I definitely didn’t take care of it as a teenager or in my early 20s and I have two sunspots on my face to show for it. But that’s in the past because I’m making a major effort to take care of my skin now!

I wash my face every single night. I have sensitive skin but it’s also oily in my t-zone. My dermatologist recommended this to me after I had an allergic reaction to a face wash a few years ago and I haven’t changed. I love this, and it has never caused me to break out.
I use this every single night after I wash my face each night. Again, this was recommended by my dermatologist because of my sensitive skin. This is such a great nighttime moisturizer, but I think it’s now time for me to look into an anti-aging moisturizer. Anyone have any great recommendations that won’t break the bank?
This is my FAVORITE!!! I bought this oil after I had a massage a while back, and as you can see, I’m going to have to replace this bottle soon. I put a few drops of oil each night on my inner wrists and then dab a little bit right behind my earlobes. It may just be in my mind, but I feel like this helps me sleep better each night. (This is also great to add about 6 drops to the bath!)
Thanks to my lovely dermatologist (seriously, she’s the best), she suggested I start using a Retinol cream at night. I use it about 2-3 times a week. I squeeze a pea amount into my hand and rub it all over my face (not near my eyes) and onto my neck and base of my neck. I let it sit about 5 minutes before putting my moisturizer on top. A retinol cream can dry your skin out, so it’s really important to use a moisturizer, too.
I bought this at the end of July at Sephora after searching for the perfect eye cream. I don’t have crow’s feet yet, but I wanted to do something to prevent them. I’ve been dabbing this lightly around my eye and temple twice a day–once before putting on make up and once after putting my moisturizer on. I’ll be honest, for the longest time I didn’t know if this was actually working. Then I got a cold and my nose started peeling. I randomly tried rubbing this in around my nose. Within 2 days, my nose wasn’t peeling anymore and it didn’t look like I had been sick at all. Now I’m a big believer that this eye cream really works and is acting as a preventative while keeping my skin looking great! (It also smells great!)
