I don’t really have a special blog post planned for today, so here’s a bunch of random thoughts for your Wednesday!
-I started reading Moms on Call to prep for baby and it’s made me a little bit nervous because there’s so much to remember. I was telling Dustin some of the info and he said I needed to bookmark everything haha! I’m interested to see how this will work for us since the first two weeks of our baby’s life will be spent in ICPC and not at home.
-I’ve had so many people comment on how soft my hair is and even ask to touch it! I credit this spray for really helping turn my damaged hair into healthy hair. I spray it on after I towel dry my hair and before I brush it. I also spray pretty liberally–it doesn’t make my hair greasy. Then I let it sit in my hair a little bit before I dry my hair.
-A little confession: I have been pretty unmotivated to workout the last few months. I ended up canceling my gym membership in order to save a little bit of money for the adoption, but now I’m really wishing I didn’t. Out of everything, I enjoy running the most but I can think of every excuse in the book: it’s too cold, I’m tired after school, I hate all the hills in our neighborhood.
-I’m in the middle of reading Where the Crawdads Sing, and I think after that I’m going to read The Great Alone, which is the other book Dustin got me for Christmas. He did so good this year getting me two books that I had mentioned wanting to read–I was so surprised!
-I talked last night on IG stories about being desperate for contacts. I first got reading glasses in 3rd grade, but because I have a lazy eye and a stigmatism, my eyes have gotten much worse over the years. Now I not only wear my glasses when I read, but also when my eyes are tired–basically all the time. I can’t stand touching my eye or anyone else touching theirs, but I’m desperate!! So many people responded and it looks like dailies might be the easiest since they are so thin? I’m calling the eye doctor today during my planning period to make an appointment.

I like hearing your random thoughts! You are so precious! Yep no gym for me I just do what I can at home and my mom and I have started walking our local run down mall because girl it is so cold here, LOL!

Good news, you don’t have to remember everything in moms on call AND the first two weeks are really just bonding with baby and getting into an eat play sleep rhythm! You want to wake to feed during the day and not let those naps last too long, and then as long as baby is healthy, just let baby wake on their own and night for feedings! Just by doing that alone, they will get their days and nights sorted out, and then you can try to implement some sort of schedule when you get home. Or whenever you are ready! You are going to be amazing parents! And do what works for you and your baby!

I've heard great things about Moms on Call! I will also definitely be snagging that damage control spray!

The Great Alone was my favorite book of the year!!

I love contacts – and I have astigmatism too, so my vision just keeps on tanking. I use Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism. AND The Great Alone might be my favorite book last year.

Moms on Call is a great reference! I too felt pretty overwhelmed after looking through it before my baby arrived! But that's ok! No need to memorize anything. And like someone else said above, the first few weeks simply focus on feeding and bonding with baby. Plenty of time to worry about schedules later! haha 🙂 Takingcarababies on Instagram is also a great reference.

There are so many great resources out there, but don't stress about taking it all in or having to stick to one. We honestly haven't done any sleep training and ours sleeps great! It's frustrating, but also a little reassuring that all babies are different and it takes a little time to figure out what works best for them. Y'all are going to be great!! And contacts take a little time to get used to, but aren't bad! I still look away/ put it on the side of my eye when it put them in and blink them into place (after 15+ years of wearing them!), but hubby just puts them straight on and it kills me to watch!

Your hair always does look so soft!!! And good luck finding contacts – I don't think I could do without mine!

I am definitely going to check out that spray. I started using the ROC (is that what it's called?) moisturizer you mentioned a while back and love it! Also, my husband used to wear glasses but got LASIK and is so happy with that decision. I have no idea if LASIK is/isn't an option for you and your eye situation but it was rough for him the first couple of days but after that it's been great!

I love my contacts and I've worn them since 5th grade. I had glasses pretty much at birth! In college I transitioned to Acuvue Oasys and I LOVE them since I get dry eye pretty badly. My mom is the same and she uses one-a-day dailies. I hope you find a pair that works – I think you'll love them once you get the hang of it 🙂

I know what you mean about being unmotivated to work out. I am the queen of excuses. Im really working on that this year. Give yourself grace though, its a really busy and beautiful time for you prepping for baby!

I hope you find contacts that work for you! I wore them until 2012 when I had LASIK.

I wear daily contacts and they're the only ones that worked for me! Good luck!

Also, another thing with contacts — if one brand doesn't work / feel comfortable / easy to insert and remove, try another brand! They're all a little different. 🙂
I still need to order Moms on Call — our library doesn't carry it! So strange!

Girl…let me assure you even if you memorize that book the best parenting is your own intuition! My kids all wear the daily contacts and love them but I had to literally put them into their eyes every single day for about a month before they finally were able to get the hang of it themselves. Maybe you can get Dustin to do it for you. haha

I can't wait to see how MOC works for you since you'll be starting it from the beginning! I honestly didn't worry about sleep training Charlie until he was 4 months old (aka last week) and I wish I had started sooner because it's made such a difference for us. I'm doing a modified version of MOC though, because I still have such a hard time with crying it out!

I don't like wearing glasses…but contacts are too intimidating for me, so I just go around slightly blind when I want the no-glasses look, haha! Not the smartest move, probably…
