Last year I blogged about how I meal plan each week for Dustin and I, and that system still works perfectly for us today. I also grocery shop once a week, too. A couple of weeks ago I had a sweet reader ask if I could do a post on my weekly grocery shopping, and since I love reading shopping lists on Pinterest (am I the only one?), I thought this was a great idea! The only problem?? I kept forgetting to take pictures of my grocery haul because Dustin and I would unload everything too quickly and put it away 🙈
So today you’re getting a real life view into my unorganized pantry. I’m still trying to figure out how to categorize my pantry, so if anyone has any tips, I’d love to hear it!
Before I start, I’d like to point out a few things:
-I’m going to share what I like to keep in stock in our pantry and fridge, so some of the things I buy weekly and some I buy whenever we run out.
-I keep a notepad in a drawer in the kitchen that I keep a running grocery list on. If we are low on olive oil while I’m cooking one night, I’ll add that to the list so I don’t forget.
-Some items that I keep in stock are just for special occasions–cake mixes in case I need to quickly make a dessert, chex cereal for homemade chex mix or trail mix, etc.
I keep our paper towels and straws at the top of the pantry because that shelf is high and I don’t want to have to use a step stool each time I walk in there!
I also keep my most-used cookbooks and recipe binder on the top shelf for meal planning.
