I know I say this every month, but I cannot believe it’s already July. Where has my summer gone? I’ve got a 4 day workshop coming up this month and pair that with lesson prep….my summer is pretty much done ha!
Before I get started on today’s post, I want to thank everyone who reached out regarding yesterday’s exciting announcement! We are so very excited and I plan on doing lots of posts that can hopefully help someone in the future!
1. Will you go on a a summer vacation this year? Yes! We’ve got a trip to Rosemary Beach later this month! I’m so ready for a vacation! I don’t think I’ve ever NOT had a summer vacation??
2. Do nothing but relax or a pack it all in vacation? It depends on the kind of vacation–if it’s somewhere like the beach or tropical, I’m relaxing and laying out and eating a ton. But if it’s somewhere like California, then I’m packing it all in!
3. What month do you like to vacation? I will vacation any month of the year! Actually, I could vacation all the time 😜 But in reality, because I’m a teacher the summer is always better for me.
4. Cruise: YES or NO? NO WAY!!! I’ve been on two cruises and I’m never going on another. The first cruise was when I was in college with a friend and her parents. We were on a 7 day cruise during New Years. The first few days were great…..until we hit a cold front in the ocean. Did you know cold fronts can cause 16 feet waves?! I have never been so terrified, sick, missing my mom, etc in my entire life!!! So I told Dustin I’d give it one more shot after we got married, but I refused to do it during winter ha! And I just didn’t enjoy it–I didn’t enjoy being stuck on the ship with so many people and the pool was so tiny that I could never go cool off in it on our days at sea. So long story short–don’t ever ask me to go on a cruise with you.
5. Favorite vacation tradition? Probably going to the beach every year. It helps living in Alabama and being so close to beautiful beaches.
6. Most memorable vacation? Lots!!! Seeing and hiking in Yosemite, mopeding around New Orleans, eating the best food in Savannah, and most recently, getting on a detour through Indiana cornfields with my bff….I could go on and on!
7. Pack light or Pack it all? Pack it all!
8. Hotel, Condo or House? I like them all! I really like hotels because they come in a clean your room for you 😂😂 That’s a vacation to me!!! We rented the cutest carriage house in Rosemary Beach so I’m excited about that!
9. Favorite thing(s) to eat on vacation? I’m all about local foods while on vacation. Do not take me to a Cheesecake Factory or any other chain restaurant because I want to immerse myself in the culture and eat all the good foods! My only exception: Chick-fil-a
10. Warm or Cold Destinations? I want to do another cold destination! A couple of years ago (actually, before we met our now-husbands), my best friend and I flew to Washington DC for a vacation during December. It was freezing and we toured lots of museums for the sake of thawing out! My dream is to go to NYC during December (which we were going to do this year but instead we’re adopting….maybe next year!) and Dustin and I both want to go to Colorado to ski–well, he can ski and I’ll sit by the fire and read!

I'm with you when it comes to eating all local foods on vacation!! TripAdvisor is my best friend, and we use it constantly to find all of our places to eat!

Totally agree…if it's a "tropical" destination, I don't want to do a THING. Just leave me alone to read and nap and then take me to dinner somewhere "local". It's not too much to ask, right? I've been on one cruise several years ago with a cousin for a girls' trip. We had a really great time. We're going on one in October with my whole family. While we had a good experience, I can definitely see and understand how it's not everyone's cup of tea!

I somehow missed your big news, but went back to read it this morning & I am now crying tears of joy for you! I hope that doesn’t make me a crazy person, since I’m a stranger on the internet. Haha. But you have been in my prayers on your journey to become a mama and I’m just so excited for you.

I'm with you on cruises– that's a big ole nope from me! Luckily my hubs agrees!

I can't wait to hear about your upcoming vacation! I keep hearing so much about Rosemary Beach and now I feel like I need to book a trip there!
If you ever need a cold-weather destination, I've heard Minneapolis is nice! 😉

I haven't done a cruise ever but I have a feeling my reaction would be just like yours lol

Okay, I tried switching back to the blogger profile — not sure how it reverted back on its own! Can you let me know if you're able to respond to me?

I loathe the chain restaurant on vacation, too! The only cruises I would be interested in area cruises around the Greek Isles or a river cruise in Europe (with a focus on Christmas markets, lol).

Rosemary Beach and your carriage house sound adorable! I love NYC in the winter, especially with the lights and snow! I’m down to go skiing, but like you, I’d rather read and sit by the fire!

I am SO with you on the cruising! We went on one back in 2004 and I felt so sick the first night I wanted to DIE. The rest of the trip I was a little better, but I felt so claustrophobic the entire time that I just don't think you could ever pay me to get back on another cruise ship. haha.
