Friday Favorites–Last One of the Summer!

Happy Friday, y’all! It’s my last Friday of summer. I go back to school Monday and then both boys go back to their little school the following Monday (they only go part time). I will be at school Sunday afternoon meeting students, too!

As always, I’m sharing a few FAVORITES today!

We celebrated Dustin’s 38th birthday on Tuesday and then our 9 year anniversary on Wednesday! He made us reservations Wednesday for a place we love to eat, but I told him after that I think I’m over that place. This time we were sat at a table that was extremely close to the tables on either side of us. So close that I could tell you what the woman on my right talked about (she’s about to leave for vacation to Paris, Ireland, and Scotland and she still pays for her son’s life insurance) and the man to my left (he turned down a job paying $235,000 a year). I don’t want to have dinner and have people listening to our conversation, so I felt like we really couldn’t talk about anything deep. The food was good but atmosphere was not.

I have THOROUGHLY enjoyed Christmas movies in July! I subscribe to FrndlyTV so I can get the Great American channel since YoutubeTV doesn’t get it. I occasionally will watch a Hallmark movie, but I really enjoy this new channel! I’ve been watching it since it was created in 2020 and it’s only gotten better.

Harrison won a prize for the completion of the summer reading program at our local library! he was so so excited and so was I! He’s not really into using the LeapReader to actually read the story to him, but instead he likes placing the pen on certain words and pictures to hear what they are going to say.

We have people coming today who will HOPEFULLY finish our new countertops and do it correctly this time. This whole process has been a nightmare. I currently am missing a kitchen sink and counters all on one side of the kitchen and because of the missing sink, I don’t have a dishwasher. It’s been like this since Tuesday. I need this whole process to be OVER.

SOMEONE IS GETTING A TOOTH!!! I ran my finger over Banks’s bottom gum yesterday and felt a sharp point–can’t wait for that tooth to come in! He’s just the happiest baby 🙂

I ordered the boys matching outfits for this winter and I’m excited to see them in the clothes! Plus, the price was really good. This is for Banks’s bubble and this is for the pants set for Harrison.

Okay, I’m off to wait on the counter people to get here!

Nine Years

Nine years ago today in front of almost 300 people, we promised to love one another through the good and the bad. These past nine years have been filled with a lot of good and bad. Through it all, we’ve supported, encouraged, and loved one another–with a lot of laughter along the way.

We’ve learned how to disagree with one another. We’ve learned how to apologize to one another. We’ve learned who likes to talk first thing in the morning (me) and who doesn’t (Dustin). We’ve learned who has better taste in music (also me LOL) and who doesn’t. And we’ve learned who is better at financial planning (Dustin, the excel spreadsheet keeper).

This year we welcomed Banks, our second son, into our family–something that we couldn’t have done without the other.

Happy Anniversary, Dustin! Here’s to a lifetime together!

Happy Birthday Dustin + Nashville Zoo

Today is someone special’s birthday–Dustin turns 38!!! (The boys and I love you, Dustin!!). We did have plans to go out to eat for supper and go for dessert, but we’ve had issues with the new countertops we had installed at the end of June and they called yesterday to let us know they are coming this afternoon to redo everything. Womp womp….really puts a kink in our plans. So we’ll see what we end up doing!

Yesterday morning the four of us loaded up in my car and drove to the Nashville Zoo for a fun little day trip. Neither Dustin nor I had ever been to the Nashville Zoo and we’ve taken Harrison to the Birmingham Zoo twice, so we were ready to try something new. The zoo is also on the south side of Nashville, so it made getting there extremely easy.

Disclaimer, I didn’t take a ton of pictures. I really was just living in the moment and honestly, the Nashville Zoo wasn’t really a favorite.

Here we are beginning our drive to Nashville! We’re lucky that we live about an hour and a half away, so that makes for a very easy day trip.

Everyone is ready to go in and explore! And Banks was prepared with two stroller fans 🙂

We got to the zoo at lunch time, so we stopped at one of their restaurants to eat–plus it was time to feed Banks a bottle and we were able to do it in the air conditioning. We ate at about 11:30, and since it was a little early, the restaurant was not crowded at all! Dustin and I both had a smash burger and Harrison ate chicken fingers.

Harrison found a bench that was just his size to sit on!

Banks is not the best on the go napper, but he was able to nap well in the stroller yesterday.

They had a little petting zoo where Harrison got to pet a few goats.

And this is the one time I asked Dustin to take a picture of me and the boys (so I could say I was at the zoo with them LOL) and last night when he sent me the picture, I realized then that he cut Banks out…

The giraffe exhibit was closed and the train was closed. They didn’t have any elephants or lions (which we had just watched The Lion King so we were excited to see those animals), but we did get right next to a tiger and their alligator exhibit was very cool! Overall, we had a great day as a family exploring something new!
