Woohoo it’s FRIDAY!!! I’ve been in a workshop all week that’s lasted every day until 3:30 and while I’ve learned a lot, getting back into the school routine has been tough! I’ve got two weeks left of summer, and I plan to enjoy every day! Dustin and I have a vacation planned that we booked/paid for in March and I’ve been looking forward to that for MONTHS!!!
And just a reminder that we are keeping out PayPal account open for donations. If you wish to donate, you can give through paypal.me/DustinShaneyfelt. We are so unbelievably appreciative of the generosity shown to us!
Now, for my FAVORITES from this week!
I’m desperately in need of some new back to school clothes, so I picked this dress up from a local boutique. (This dress is similar.) I loved the solid color and style because I felt it was very Meghan Markle-esque! (I’ve had lots of questions about my shoes before. I bought them last year? at Nordstrom. They don’t carry them anymore, but here’s a link to them for a cheaper price!!)
Sunday night I threw Dustin a family birthday party, and it was a Braves baseball theme! I served “ballpark food” and I had recorded the Braves game from earlier that day and it was on during the party. The cake was SO GOOD!! I told Dustin that once we have a baby, I’ll quit throwing him the themed birthday parties haha!
Wednesday we had our physicals scheduled, which are required for our home study. Those we scheduled in the evening, so once I finished with my workshop that day, I threw on workout clothes and went to the park to walk. I love listening to podcasts while I walk and that day I was listening to one from Risen Motherhood–I’ve been listening to RM podcast for almost a year now in preparation for when we have children! (Side note: I live in a small town…so small in that as I was walking at the park, my dad pulled up to play disc golf with his friend. I laughed because only in a small town do you run into your parents!)
Out running errands 😊
Last Friday I went to Birmingham to meet up with my bestie and our old college women’s minister, Kim! I still remember when Janie and I walked into the Baptist Campus Ministries (BCM) in August 2007. And here we are 11 years later and we are still friends with all of our friends we made at the BCM and with Kim!! I’m a huge advocate of getting involved in a campus ministry in college!
And for my FAVORITE song of the week…

I love the theme of his birthday party, & that you threw him a themed party! Girl, I am not ready to go back! I thought I was until I had a 4 hour training on Wednesday & I realized I am in fact not ready for the routine to start again.

That dress is so pretty and looks really comfy too! You guys go back to school much earlier than us — our schools typically are done 1st week of June and go back the day after Labor Day.

Sarah, sorry this is so belated but a big congratulations to you both on your adoption success – that is wonderful news and I am so excited for you! I have only been a sporadic reader so far but I can't wait to follow your journey! The birthday party sounds brill and that cake looks amazing – great idea! You really suit the grey dress (colour looks fab on you!) and it goes great with the pearl necklace and shoes. Hey I totally know what you mean about small town living – we can't go ANYWHERE where I live without seeing a family member / neighbour / friend or an old boyfriend from school, or an old teacher from school! Love that about small towns though. Have a lovely week-end xx P.S. we have a baby on the horizon too and I am trying to get my head around what to put in a nursery again as I've had an 11 year gap from my first!

Hey hey pretty lady! I used to read all the blogs all the time and then life hit. Eeek it's so good to get back over here. I went to Alabama in the winter and decided my goal is to move there from here in NC. My husband said he is down. We just fell in love with it. So HUGE congrats on your adoption process. This is going to be the biggest blessing and the baby is going to hit the total parent jackpot when they have you two for parents! Praise HIS name, I know this! I want someone to throw me a Patriots birthday party!!! You rock! xo

Visiting from Andrea's blog and will start following you as I want to keep up with your adoption story. Adoption is so very dear to my heart! Our first granddaughter was adopted at birth by our son and DIL. Drs. had told our DIL years earlier that she would likely never be able to get pregnant and after 2 years of fertility treatments they decided that they would go the adoption route. We saw the hand of God from the very beginning and we were all present for her birth and when she was handed over to our son and DIL after her birth I did not know if I would live over it. It was the most emotional experience. That was 9 years ago and she has been such a delight and when she was 5 years old our DIL miraculously got pregnant and they now have a 3 year old daughter. God is so faithful!
