I realized that I hadn’t done a day in the life in almost a year, and I want to make sure I never forget these very busy days!! Day in the life posts are some of my favorite posts to look back at. We never think about how special mundane days are when we’re living them, but when we go back and read about them, sometimes we (or maybe just me) wish we would have enjoyed it a little more.
I picked the day before Harrison’s 6th birthday to document. I had already tried documenting the day before, but I kept forgetting–I’ve got to get back into blogging practice ๐

Dustin’s alarm goes off at 4:45am every morning, and I usually lay there for a little while before I actually get up.

While he’s in the shower, I go get the coffee started. My Nespresso broke about a year ago, and I just haven’t replaced it :(. I also tote the baby monitor around with me to watch the kids sleep. While the coffee is brewing, I’ll start packing everyone’s lunch.

After I get all the things done in the kitchen and pour myself a cup of coffee, I go back to my bed and do my quiet time!

Someone loves to come visit me while I’m getting ready in the morning. Dustin gives him breakfast and dresses him, and I fix his hair and wash his face before we leave.

I usually listen to a podcast while I’m getting ready, and this particular morning I was listening to Teddi Mellencamp’s episode on The Skinny Confidential. I loved watching Teddi on RHOBH and found this episode interesting.

It’s a blur of activity in the morning getting everything loaded in the car and everyone in their seat. I drop the babies (Banks and Merritt) off first since Merritt needs her breakfast bottle first thing. Notice that while I’ve been driving, Banks has taken off his socks and shoes ๐
I drop the babies off and then take Harrison to his elementary school, which is across town. Then I drive to my school and I usually get to school 10 minutes before students are released to come into our rooms.

My planning is 2nd period, so I made copies for the next day.

I also usually don’t eat breakfast until 2nd period either. I’m trying really hard to up my protein, so I ate Kodiak protein pancakes and two boiled eggs–I was starving at this point!
I didn’t take any pictures the rest of the day because I totally forgot, but for lunch, I ate tuna and crackers.

Harrison rides the school bus from his elementary school to my school and he always gets to my school before it’s over, so he gets to talk with my 7th period kids–they LOVE him. I love seeing him every day!

We leave school and go pick up the babies.

This is what it looks like when we get home. I get all of our bags inside and all the kids inside, and then everyone is ready for a snack! As you can see, Banks is in the stage where he says, “Banks do it!” And he loves to eat my gf crackers, so he’s getting a bowl. And the weather was really nice that day, so we decided to…

…snack outside!!! It was such a beautiful day and it really made me look forward to when our weather is consistently warm.

Dustin got home and he played with the boys on the swing set ๐

And Merritt and I hung out on the back porch!!

I left the boys out back and Merritt and I came back inside because it was time to get supper ready. I also had to go through everyone’s bag and clean out lunch boxes and folders. I always do that while the kids are snacking in the dining room, but since we went outside, I left it until later.

Time for supper!!! Most of the time, we sit down together for supper, but this was a night where I fixed the kids’ plates first, said their blessing, and let them start eating while we fixed our plates.

I had to pick up Harrison’s birthday cake from Publix that night, so I let him come with me. We got to Publix a little after six, and I had to wake Harrison up haha! He had fallen asleep in the car :). We picked up his cake, cupcakes, and a few other things from Publix.
I didn’t take anymore pictures, but we got home and I bathed Harrison. I usually do the boys’ bedtime routines while Dustin gives Merritt her bedtime bottle and puts her down. Then he unloads and reloads the dishwasher, and I tackle laundry and take my nighttime shower. I was in bed by 9:30 that night!
