Friday Favorites!

Wow, already Friday again and almost the end of June–this summer is flying by way too fast :). Here’s to hoping for sunny weather this weekend instead of the gross, dreary, rainy weather we’ve experienced all week.

Today, I’m sharing a few of my FAVORITES with y’all!

ONE

I LOVE our local library! This summer we’ve been going to the local library every Thursday for the summer reading program. It’s been focused on the theme of community helpers. Yesterday a local dentist was there to read a book and talk about teeth. After, the kids went outside to participate in the cutest teeth-themed obstacle course–Harrison had the best time and was so excited about the obstacle course! Banks slept through it ha!

TWO

I came across these acrylic frames that are so cute and I plan on getting some for art for the boys’ rooms. Reviews say it’s not too hard to hang, so these look like a good investment to me!

THREE

Yesterday I shared a post about hopping on the new tennis skirt trend, and so this skirt is for sure a FAVORITE this week! I’ve worn in a ton already and would love to get another color or two. I talk more about sizing and fit in this post.

FOUR

Anyone else a fan of Suits? My mom and I started watching Suits together because of Meghan Markle, but we loved the show so much that even after she left the show, we both continued watching and LOVED! The writing is great; the characters’ chemistry and dynamics are great; it’s just all around a really enjoyable show and one of my favorites ever! If you haven’t watched yet, you really need to!

FIVE

Harrison made a fort and wanted Banks to be in his fort with him. Now that Banks is becoming more mobile (I.e. army crawls himself wherever he wants to go), Harrison has really started playing with him. This makes me more excited for the future when I pray they are the best of friends and love playing together.

SIX

I got my eyebrows touched up on Tuesday and wow, what a difference it makes! About 2 years ago, I had my eyebrows micro bladed/powder brow combo. It totally changed my face because she was able to give me an arch which was like an instant eye lift! While my brows still held color really well, it was time for a touch up and I’m thrilled with the results!

The Summer Mom Uniform

I basically LIVE in athleisure during the summer months. I love not having to put on make up each day and getting dressed in the most comfortable clothes I own (aside from pajamas LOL). If only I could dress in athleisure all school year long 🙂

I’ve been watching the tennis skirt/skort trend really take off and wanted to try it for myself. I finally did and I’m not looking back–I LOVE IT!!

This is the skort from Lululemon. I really love the quality of Lululemon’s clothes, so I wanted to try this skirt vs one from Amazon. This is the long length and I’m 5’7″ so I could definitely do the extra long length too if I wanted (online only and it’s 2 inches longer). I love the short length underneath–I think my biggest worry with a tennis skirt was the shorts underneath and if they would ride up or bother me. I’ve worn this at least 4 times so far, and I haven’t had an issue!

You can’t really tell, but the back is really cute with the pleats, too!! If you’re on the fence about buying or ordering, I say do it! It runs tts, and I think I was the biggest skeptic and now I’m the biggest fan!

On an unrelated note, I took our curtains down when we repainted our room and got new carpet in, and I’m not putting them back up because I want something totally different. I bought new bedding during a Memorial Day sale and I may wait until a 4th of July sale for curtains haha!

Random Thoughts on Motherhood

Today’s post is going to be random. I was walking yesterday for exercise and started listening to a Sally Clarkson podcast. She’s a huge believer in the importance of motherhood and discipling your children–and it got me thinking…

I love being a mother so much. I really do. It’s what I’ve always dreamed of being and maybe because of that, sometimes I end the day feeling like I’ve done the worst job possible. Was I too irritable today? Did I show enough grace? Was I patient enough? Did I play with Harrison enough? Do both boys know how much I love them?

I want my kids to grow up feeling safe here in their home. To feel comfortable in their home. To go to sleep each night feeling secure in their love from both of their parents. To see modeled how a true repentant Christian life is like.

And there are some days where I feel like I did an okay job, and then there are days where I feel like I am the worst mom.

BUT…I am thankful that I don’t have to stress out about what I am like as a mom. I remind myself (and I have to do this frequently) that God is sovereign over Harrison and Banks’s lives–that my job is to do the very best I can in loving and raising them, but that I don’t have control over how they turn out as adults. God is in control. That takes a lot of pressure off of feeling like I have to be a perfect mom all the time because it’s impossible! This doesn’t mean that I parent passively–I still strive to do a perfect job, but when I mess up and sin against my children, I repent and then apologize to them and ask them for forgiveness.

Okay, well I have no idea why I wrote this post, but maybe someone needs to be reminded of this just like I need to remind myself of this pretty much every day 🙂
