Friday Favorites!

Happy Friday!!!! I can’t believe I’m even writing this out, but today is my LAST FRIDAY OF SUMMER 🙁 I have thoroughly enjoyed being home with Harrison this summer and I am going to miss it so much. Actually, we both will have withdrawals from each other so pray for us LOL!

As always, today I’m sharing a few of my FAVORITES!!!

One

My first FAVORITE is SIMONE BILES!!! She is a true class act and I am so proud of her for knowing her limits and speaking up for herself knowing she needs to step back. I can’t imagine the pressure she has on herself being the greatest, and after watching Athlete A on Netflix, she’s been through so much in her life and I am just so proud of her!

I posted earlier this week about the Nordstrom Sale, so make sure you check that out! So far, my most worn items have been this sports bra (it really is high impact and order your normal bra size) and these earrings!

Sunday was Dustin’s 36th birthday and because of that, he got to choose the lunch spot after church. I tried to get a few pictures before walking in and none of them had both Dustin and Harrison looking at the same time. I had told Dustin to squat down by Harrison and here Harrison is trying to squat down like his Daddy haha! Such a FAVORITE thing for me to watch 🙂

He’s so cute!!!! 🙂 We always ask Harrison what he learned about in Sunday School once we all get in the car and Harrison always says, “Jesus” which makes my heart melt! He also talks a lot about a little girl in his class and the potty ha

I posted last week about being in the first half of this book and loving it. Well, I finished it and already started the second book!!! This series might be my new FAVORITE series! I love every character in this series and am loving reading about their lives. I also love the setting. Another series I love that takes place in Nantucket is Elin Hilderbrand’s Winter Street series, but I don’t love every character in that series, so it’s nice liking every character in a book haha!

I took Harrison with me to the post office yesterday to mail a few things. Harrison gets really excited when he sees a mail truck, so it was fun explaining to him how the post office works. I told him that all of these were mailboxes and he was in heaven touching them all haha

My Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2021 Thoughts

Public access for the Nordstrom sale starts Wednesday at 2 am CST, and just in case you’re wanting to get a few fall/winter items on sale, I thought I’d share the things that worked for us! There were way more items that didn’t work for me that I had to send back, so that was pretty disappointing. The two Madewell sweaters I was really looking forward to were cancelled on me after my order was confirmed and the two jeans I tried on ended up being too snug and I just didn’t feel like ordering a size bigger–IYKYK.

Anyway, these are the things that worked for me and then I’ll share what worked for Dustin and Harrison.

What worked for me…

This year I decided to stock up on my favorite self tanner since it is incredibly cheap in this sale. I won’t have to buy anymore for at least another year, if not longer!

I was really excited to see my favorite bra in this sale. The straps are super soft and don’t cut into your shoulders (which is often a problem for me). I was fitted in the lingerie department for a bra at Nordstrom probably 3 years ago and this is the one I bought. I haven’t looked back and haven’t wanted to change styles or try something new–this one is my favorite nude bra!

I always wear the same pearl studs every day, but I decided to branch out during this sale and try these cubic zirconia studs. I love them and am keeping them for sure!! I got the bigger size, but they also offer a smaller size.

I ordered this high impact bra on a whim and am impressed! I didn’t think it would be high impact at first since it feels pretty thin, but it actually is. (Order tts) I now have 2 high impact bras and I can alternate on my work out days!

Last year I thought about asking for Golden Goose tennis shoes for Christmas, but changed my mind since I wouldn’t be able to try them on before buying. A few people recommended P448 shoes since they are very similar to GG. I didn’t think anything about shoes until I saw these included in the anniversary sale! I ordered my regular size and I LOVE THEM!! They are super cushiony so they will be great for standing on concrete floors all day!

What worked for Dustin…

A few years ago, Dustin tried this new-to-him brand as a polo since it was on sale. As soon as his order came in, he was hooked. These Peter Millar shirts are so soft and cooling that these are now the polos Dustin stocks up on during the anniversary sale. The above is one of the polos he got, but you can click here to see all of the polos offered during the sale.

Dustin says the above shirt fits about the same as Peter Millar and feels just as good!

I asked Dustin what he would say about these shorts (I bought him his first pair several years ago) and this is why he likes them: “They are a relaxing short/active wear. The material is better quality than most athletic shorts and you feel like you have more freedom in the fit than with other athletic shorts.”

Dustin isn’t a fancy face wash kind of guy, but he got this for Christmas last year and now really likes it! You can’t go wrong stocking up on face wash during this sale when it’s so much cheaper now than during the rest of the year.

When you live in the South, sometimes vests are really all you need during the winter. Dustin got this Barbour vest during this sale because it was at a great price point AND Barbour is a really great outerwear brand! It’s also really lightweight but will be really warm this winter.

What worked for Harrison…

I didn’t buy much for Harrison at all during this sale because he’s too big for the baby gear and the children’s clothing at Nordstrom really isn’t my style. But I’ve learned that Nordstrom has great outerwear regardless of style, so that’s what I got for H. I also got him to model them and he didn’t want to stop playing to smile for my pictures haha!

I love Northface as a brand and as soon as I saw this coat, I knew it would work for multiple uses. It’s got a hood so it can be work during rain (or maybe the one snow we might get), it’s lightweight, but it’s also going to be warm for this winter. I ordered up a size in hopes that we could get two years out of it, but it turns out, you need to order one size up in this jacket for it to fit now.

Harrison lived in pullovers last year when it was cooler. I loved this one, and even though he doesn’t look like it in the picture, he does, too! Order TTS

This pullover is coming in the mail today, so obviously I haven’t tried it on Harrison yet. I liked this sweatshirt because it looks like vintage JCrew and will go with lots of things this fall and winter.

Friday Favorites!!

Happy Friday!!! The opening ceremony of the Olympics starts tonight and I am so excited!! I love the Olympics but especially after what last year was like, we need something to cheer on. Dustin’s birthday is Sunday and I’m throwing him an Olympic-themed party 🙂

Today’s FAVORITES post is going to be short and sweet because as I’m writing this Thursday night, I’m hurrying to get in bed because my mom and I are going to breakfast and then shopping!

I did a Day in the Life post from earlier this week, and I think we can all agree how much we all love reading about other people’s days 🙂 I’ll be the first to admit I’m always fascinated how people spend their days.

I finished reading Starry Night this week and LOVED IT!!!! If you’re looking for something light and easy, this book is for you!! I had no idea it was actually a Christmas novel when I checked it out on the Libby app, but it’s not overly Christmas-themed. Carrie, the main character, is a society page editor who is tired of writing about parties and wants to write more serious pieces. Her boss tells her if she can track down a new popular author who is like a recluse and get an interview, she can write whatever she wants. Carrie heads to Alaska to track down Finn and…..you’ll have to read the rest 🙂 It was a quick read and I read this in two days.

I technically haven’t finished The Nantucket Inn yet–I’m a quarter of the way through!!–BUT this book is already a favorite!! I like the premise of the story and when I checked it out, I didn’t realize it was book 1 of a series. Lisa’s husband has passed away and she found out he gambled all of their savings away. She wants to keep her home so she decides to transform it as a bed and breakfast. Her four adult children all have issues of their own, so it’s been really fun reading about multiple characters. Plus, the setting is Nantucket and seems completely idyllic!

I want to leave y’all with a peek into my life as a toddler boy mom 🙂 Dustin was working late one night, so I was putting Harrison to bed by myself. While I was calling for him, he ran out of the hallway like this, so naturally I had to snap a picture before I made him put the pitcher up haha! He sometimes wears that pitcher as a hat, and we’re breaking him from his paci so he’s been chewing on that teething toy more lately.
