Sunday night before the Oscars started, I made myself a Spark and sat on the couch to watch the first 30 minutes or so of the show. For those of you who don’t know, Spark is a vitamin and energy drink from Advocare, and typically you’re supposed to drink it in the morning or early on in the day. I didn’t think it would affect me very much, but I was wired Sunday night and probably didn’t fall asleep until midnight where I slept horribly after that. My husband had to work yesterday so before he went to bed, I jokingly told him to get my side of the bed ready (I sleep with a blanket over my side of the comforter to keep me extra warm). When I finally went to get in bed that night, I walked in to see that he had left my lamp on, put my blanket over my side of the bed, and moved my pillow right next to his. It’s little moments like this that remind me how much he really cares about me 🙂
THREE WAYS MY HUSBAND SHOWS ME HE CARES
1. He honors my strange requests. Just last night I made us a few quick smores after our supper. As we were eating them standing up in the kitchen, I reminded Dustin to eat them over his plate since they will drip chocolate. He jokingly asked if we wanted to go eat them on couch…our off white/cream couch. I love that he can joke with me about how I am when it comes to keeping things clean, but that he also honors that too. He shows me he loves me by consciously taking care of our things.
2. He shows concern for me when I don’t feel well. I’ve always had major stomach issues, and I don’t think Dustin fully understood those until we got married and the stress of graduate school took a toll on my body. Whenever my stomach issues flare up or any other time I’m sick, he always asks what he can do to help. If I ask him to bring me medicine or to even go to the store to grab something, he does it immediately.
3. He values my input. It doesn’t matter what it is–vacation, job, clothing choices–Dustin always asks for my input and he values my opinion. Us women love to give our opinion on anything, and I love that Dustin honestly wants my opinion on things. My favorite is whenever he’s off and I’m at work, I’ll notice I have a text from him and it’ll be a picture of his outfit asking me if it looks good or matches. Even when I’m away from him, he wants my input!
Dustin, thank you for loving me and putting my needs before yours in our marriage. I love you and I can’t wait to experience so many things with you!
Love that my husband can fall asleep anywhere and at any time of the day!
