Friday Favorites!

Happy Friday, y’all! This week I have really been trying to soak in the fact that I am almost done with summer break. Next week is my last week of summer and it’s jam packed with things–Dustin’s birthday, our anniversary, getting our counter fixed (lots to say on that later), working in my classroom, hopefully going to the zoo, a get together with my small group…..just lots of things!

I’ve also moved Banks to a new schedule this past Monday and it’s taken a bit to get adjusted to. He dropped down to 4 bottles a day but now eats his purees 3 times a day. Naps are a little different and that’s taken some adjustment for all of us–but he seems to be much happier to be eating more solids haha

Did you watch Southern Charm? I was a big fan from the beginning and then Dustin ended up watching and I think he loved it more than me. Well, if you remember Cameran (the real estate agent who seemed the most normal), she has a Christmas collection with Cecil and Lou and it has some cute items for boys! (Of course, there are a million cute girl pieces)

This little outfit is so cute and I’ve ordered it for Banks to wear this Christmas! The boys will have one coordinating outfit and I can’t wait!

My best friend lives over 3 hours from me now so we have to be strategic about meeting up. Birmingham is about halfway for us, so we decided to meet at Let’s Play to let the big kids play and so we could finally see each other in person. Harrison and Abigail had a wonderful time playing together. Then we did lunch at Taco Mama where both kids barely said a word while they ate (they were starving). Then they wanted to help push Banks while we walked The Summit for just a little bit.

Sweet Magnolias season 3 dropped yesterday!!! I was able to watch an episode while the boys napped yesterday and then I watched a second episode last night after they went to bed. Is it weird that I’ve never been a fan of Cal? There’s just something about him that I”m not crazy about and I really want Maddie to find someone else.

You know how sometimes it just feels too hot to cook supper? That’s how I felt the other night. I made a very non-fancy charcuterie that was kid friendly so Harrison would be sure to eat from it too. I skipped cheeses like goat and brie and just used sliced cheese from the deli that I quartered. His favorite was the ham haha!

Banks is growing too fast! Right now, he’s loving his feet and chewing on anything and everything he can find–which means I have to make sure Harrison doesn’t leave crayons on the floor :). We are so thankful for Banks and what he’s added to our family–we can’t imagine not having Banks!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2023

Today is the day! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is now open to everyone, and prices go back up on August 7th. So if there’s something you need for this winter (or even need something now) or need to restock something, now is the chance.

I also want to remind you that it’s okay to not need anything at all. Sometimes this sale can be overhyped, and I was even a little burned out before it even started. BUT there were a few good items I found that I want to share with you, and I even purchased a few things for my mom and sister!

I actually bought this top last year on blue during the sale and it’s one of my most worn items! I wear it with jeans and my black dress pants. This is a top that I highly recommend and I’m excited to get it in a different color so I can now have two.

I was so excited to see these products back in the sale! First, these are both really huge bottles. One is a dry shampoo and the other is a texturizing spray. I use the texturizing spray when I have clean hair and want to curl it with my wand. Plus, the scent on both of these is great and my hair always smells really good after using them 🙂

I thought this top would be great to wear now to school since I start school July 31st and August is the hottest month ever. This will also be great to wear with either jeans on a Friday or black dress pants during the week! And the price is great. It. can also be worn during colder months with a blazer over it.

I was very excited to grab another pair of these pjs! I have a navy blue and a black pair and now I’m adding the Barbie pink LOL. These wash and dry really well and I’ve had both pairs for a few years. If you need a new pair of pjs, these are great!

Okay now I want to share a few things Dustin and Harrison got and the things my mom and sister used my card to buy for themselves!

Since Harrison was born, I’ve always bought his winter coat from the anniversary sale. This year they didn’t have any North Face in the sale at all (not happy about that), so I grabbed him a bigger size in this pullover. He’s had the gray the past two years, but I did the navy this year. I would suggest sizing up one size because I do feel like it runs a little small.

I also grabbed him this polo (I ordered his normal size) for him to start wearing to school and church. This is one of those items that he can start wearing now and wear into the fall.

Harrison is also getting a new pair of tennis shoes for school this year! He’s had these exact shoes in gray before they are great. He can put them on by himself because they have the lace cage and not laces. you have to tie.

Dustin absolutely LOVES these shorts! He has them in a few colors right now that he’s bought from past anniversary sales and he will wear them with either a t-shirt to be more casual or he will even wear a polo with them and they still look really. nice. He says they are the most comfortable shorts ever. They also come in a few different color options.

Dustin also really likes this brand. He says it’s soft, breathable, and sleek (his own words). It fits great and it’s really his favorite polo brand. I just went to link this polo and it’s already sold out! See, it really is a great buy. I’m going to link all of the Peter Millar because he also has a pair of the shorts that he loves, too.

I will be the first to admit that I thought this blanket was the most overpriced and overhyped blanket. I could not figure out why people would spend $100 on a blanket! And let me add, Im the kind of person who uses a blanket year-round–if I’m on the couch watching tv, I’m using a blanket. So almost two years ago I won one of these blankets in a contest. That’s when I realized the hype was real! It washes and dries wonderfully AND the size is huge and perfect to cover me completely when I’m laying down. My mom ended up ordering two for herself and I went ahead and ordered another one for me to keep upstairs when we watch TV up there so I’m not having to tote my blanket around ha! This would make a great Christmas gift, too.

Lastly, I wanted to share this stroller! I know this is a more expensive item but it’s really a great deal. I really love this company and they have excellent customer service that has kept us using this brand even with Banks. My sister (who is having a baby at the end of this year!) ended up ordering this stroller because it was discounted and I actually love this color more than what I have LOL. This stroller had flown with us a few times (wear and tear has been excellent and nonexistent) and I accidentally backed into the stroller once and warped the frame. They sent me a new frame right away to replace the old one. Also, both Banks and Harrison slept in the bassinet beside our bed until I moved them into their crib. I used this stand and now it is their laundry hamper!

A Few Prime Day Deals

Today and tomorrow is Prime Day. This used to be something that I didn’t really care about but I’ve come to realize that some of the things that I actually use are deeply discounted–and I’m all about buying at a discount! I just wanted to share a few things with y’all that you might find useful like I do!

I’m sure everyone has a Kindle by now, but if you don’t and are on the fence about it, I HIGHLY recommend it! As an English teacher, you know I am all about books. I was so resistant to even the thought of a kindle for the longest. But I soon realized that I really don’t want to buy every book I read and it’s really convenient to have this lightweight kindle in my purse to pull out when I have time to read. I still read actual books and still buy actual books, but I use my kindle so much and love it!!! This one is under $100 and the exact one I have!

This carpet and upholstery cleaner is in my cart this year. I wanted it last year and it sold out before I could get it. I want to clean my furniture and my living room rug and I’m excited about doing it!

I put 4 TBS of this in my coffee each and every single morning! I had to go without while I was on maternity leave and going without a paycheck, and I seriously felt like my skin looked extremely dull. I have been using this for almost two years and I don’t see myself ever stopping! Harrison likes to help me stir it in my coffee each morning and he thinks it’s so I can have strong bones LOL

We bought these “for Harrison” but you know Dustin and I love pelting each other with water balloons way more LOL. This is literally the best invention. You just screw the end to the water hose and it fills up all of the balloons. You just pull them off and they tie automatically. We love playing with these in the backyard, and this is an awesome deal!

I actually have really been wanting to try this and I follow this company on IG. I definitely do not eat enough greens each day and adding in a supplement can’t hurt. The story of how the woman founded this company is pretty neat and I listened to that on a podcast which then made me interested in trying her product. She has lots of other flavors, too!

Lastly, my exact Ember mug is on sale and it’s at a really great price! I’ve written about it before, but Dustin surprised me with it at Christmas because my best friend has one and he thought I would want one. I thought he had wasted his money buying me such an expensive coffee cup. But the joke was on me! I’m obsessed and had no idea Banks would be entering our family a month later and that it would sometimes take me an hour to drink a cup of coffee LOL. I also love this cup because I’m a coffee sipper and I didn’t realize how nice it was to drink hot coffee the whole time.
