A Few Facts About Me on My 31st Birthday!

Happy Birthday to ME!!!! 

 I turn 31 today so I’m going to be eating my most FAVORITE food ever tonight for supper–pizza!!  Last night we went to my mom and stepdad’s house because my mom cooked for me (healthy food minus the cake).  I’ve been celebrating all week ha!  Today, I thought I’d share a few fun facts about me that you may or may not know!

Last night at my mom’s

1. I have a hard time staying up past 9:30-10ish.  I enjoy getting up early and having quiet time to myself instead of staying up late at night.  I’ve always been that way!

2. I’m very particular about taking care of my hair.  

3. I’m 5’7″

4. I played softball growing up (mostly first base) and quit in junior high because I wanted to focus on my grades.

5. Speaking of, I was so obsessed with my grades in high school and becoming the valedictorian.  My mom begged me to make a B.  (And sadly, I didn’t graduate valedictorian, but I did graduate with over a 4.0, and now as an adult, I know that means absolutely nothing!) #nerd

6. I’m very particular about how my bedding is when I sleep.  The sheet has to be perfectly aligned with the comforter.

7. My eyes change from blue to green.

8. I know lots of music trivia, and I love playing all kinds of trivia!

9. I’m such a rule follower, but my senior year of high school, I got brave and started skipping school at lunch to run and grab fast food.  I was always terrified I would get caught haha…my school was pretty strict!

10. I prefer sweets over salty.

11. I have the highest pain tolerance ever.

12. I am pretty spontaneous when traveling whereas Dustin is a planner.  After college graduation, my bff and I randomly bought plane tickets to DC and went on vacation without planning a single thing.  It was the best trip, and one I couldn’t see Dustin being able to handle haha!

Weekend Review: The One Where I Took Zero Pictures

Happy Monday, y’all!  I’m up early Monday morning writing this and it feels more like winter than fall with the 33 degree temp right now!  This weekend was a fun one, but I didn’t take hardly any pictures–I guess subconsciously I decided to live in the moment instead of having my phone out the whole time.

We’ll start with Thursday since that was the start of the weekend when I was in college…😂
 It was cool on Thursday so I was really excited to get to wear my Spanx leggings to school! They are really comfortable yet stylish.  Obviously I have to wear a longer top with them to school so this tunic top is perfect!  It comes in a lot of other colors, but I like the black with this outfit.

 Friday night we kicked off my birthday week celebration by going to eat at one of my favorite restaurant’s in Birmingham, Little Donkey.  I like to refer to it as hipster Mexican food haha!  This restaurant is owned by the same people who own Jim N Nick’s BBQ so the meat is all cooked the same way and everything is fresh.  I decided to order something other than my usual tacos or salad and got a chicken quesadilla–it was great!  I also got the Mexican street corn but this time I had them cut it off the cob so I didn’t get corn all over my face–the best!!

Then we headed over to The Summit to walk around and do some window shopping.  I also have some money saved up from the blog that I still haven’t spent yet (surprisingly 😜).  But Dustin’s insulin pump started malfunctioning and wouldn’t deliver his insulin–obviously not good.  That caused us to scrap the rest of our plans–which included going to The Cheesecake Factory for dessert–and instead I ran in to grab myself a slice of cheesecake to eat on the way home.  Thankfully once we got home and he changed out his port, his machine was able to deliver insulin.  I hate diabetes.


 I slept in until almost 7:30 Saturday morning and did a little reading in this book.  Remember when I went to The Gospel Coalition Women’s Conference back in June?  They had the biggest book store there, and both Janie and I spent about $100 on books–we just couldn’t help it! LOL  I’ve been slowly making my way through my stack of books, so this is my book that I’m reading currently.  I’m going to do a review about it because I’ve pretty much told everyone I’ve come in contact with to buy this book because it’s that good–good in that I’ve been extremely convicted in how I really am ungrateful and encouraged to show more gratitude in the hard season….like the one I’m in now haha.


Our Adult Bible Fellowship class (just like Sunday School class) at our church threw us an adoption fundraiser social Saturday night at one of our leader’s home.  It was such a fun night!!  We ate really good food (click here for the cookie recipe), the ladies played Bunco, and there was a money tree and dessert silent auction with all money going towards helping to bring our sweet baby home!!  Dustin and I were talking about how it’s been a little over a year since we officially became members at our church and I thank God for giving us such a good community to be part of.

Sunday I took zero pictures but it was a pretty average Sunday.  We went to church and I didn’t get my act together in time to order my groceries online Saturday for Sunday pick up, so I actually went to Walmart after church (never again).  Dustin and I cleaned up the house, I made taco soup, and we watched another episode of Jack Ryan together.  We ended the night with him watching Yard Crashers and me watching The Office–see how different we are 😜

My First Time Experience With Hydrafacial at Silver Stone Salon Spa

I am always looking for ways to improve my skin.  I battle with the monthly break out, have an oily t-zone, and have sun damage from the years when I didn’t care about using sunscreen.  Ugh, I cringe just thinking about how ignorant I was.

Now that I’m 30–and soon to be 31 🙈–I realize that the face I have is the only face I will ever have so I better take care of it because I’m not getting another one!

When I found out that my local salon, Silver Stone, was starting to offer hydrafacials, I was so intrigued and excited to try a new facial technique to help my skin look bright and youthful.  If you’ve never had a hydrafacial or if you’ve never heard of it, then you will want to get one ASAP because after my experience, I’m hooked!

This was everything that came out of my skin after the facial!

I wasn’t sure what to expect so I’m really excited to be able to explain it to all of y’all!  And I know that you’re going to want to go get one as soon as you make it through this post!  PS…If you’re local, stick around until the end because there’s something awesome for you!

These were the steps of my facial:
1. Lymphatic drainage–this was done using suction and I could really tell a difference when she was doing it over my sinus cavities above and below my eyes and it’s like the pressure I was feeling was lessened greatly after that.

2. Exfoliation–this was done using one of exfoliating tips on the wand

3. Peel–this was done using another tip on the wand.  The peel is not like a chemical peel so it’s not going to make your face peel and you don’t have to stay out of the sun for days after.

4. Extractions–this was done using another tip on the wand.  Whitney used this in my t-zone which is where a lot of my big pores are and even some black heads.  I felt so clean after this because I knew she had just taken all of the junk out of my skin!

5. Booster–she uses another tip on the hydrafacial wand for this.  I got the Britinol since I struggle with sun spots and overall just needed my skin brighter from discoloration.  She also has a booster she can use for fine lines and wrinkles if you have those.

6. LED light therapy–this was the neatest part and concept to me!  Whitney used the red light on my skin since I have slight redness to my skin.  If you struggle with acne, she can use the blue light, or she can use both!  I felt like this part was extremely relaxing and beneficial to my skin after the tools she used with the other parts of the hydrafacial.

7.Antiox-+–Whitney called this part the “liquid gold” because it’s used to help your face look younger!  She used another tip on the hydrafacial wand to apply.  This felt really refreshing on my skin!

8. Daily Essentials–after the main part of your hydrafacial is over, Whiney applied oil free moisturizer, an antiox-+ daily (more liquid gold!), and a sunscreen to my face.

Then I got to look at my face…
 Overall, my skin looks so much brighter and youthful looking!

I can really tell a difference in the overall brightness of my face and especially around my nose and my forehead!!

Can you tell how much brighter and youthful my skin looks?  This was after just one facial so imagine what my skin could look like after two?!

I feel like if you really want to take care of your skin and invest in helping your skin to look good, then this facial is for you!

You can really tell a difference on the picture below!  Same back drop, same lighting.  The picture on the left was right after she washed the make up off of my face, and the picture on the right is right after my hydrafacial.
