Making a List of Baby Must-Haves

Hi friends!!!

I need your help today–I’m starting to make a list of baby must-haves that I can keep my eye open for!  So if you have any recommendations or advice, then I’d love to hear it?

Below is a list of random questions I’ve come up with…
-What is are the must-haves in a nursery?  
A monitor…yes, but a diaper genie…probably not.

-Favorite diaper bag?  
(I’m thinking a backpack would be easiest to tote around.)

-Swaddles with the velcro sides??
-Do babies still use pacifiers?
-How many crib sheets will I need?
-Sound machine?
-Do I get blackout curtains or can you train a baby to sleep without those curtain?
-Favorite bath time stuff?

**Are there any other items that you feel were lifesavers to you during the first few months?

Friday Faves!!

Happy Friday!!  How many of y’all shopped the Nordstrom Sale yesterday?  I found a pair of jeans for the school year, so I’ll report back on if they worked or not once I get them in!  This is the best time of the year to buy jeans because you can get them for half off their normal price!  And my best friend isn’t a card holder, so I grabbed a blardigan for her–I told her I was her life saver 😜


We’ve just finished our first full week of fundraising!  For those of you who wish to donate, you can still do that through PayPal!  You can either use paypal.me/DustinShaneyfelt or you can go to the website, choose send money to a friend, and enter in this email: dshaneyfelt@gmail.com.  We are fully trusting in the Lord for people who give and we are so thankful!  I just picked up thank you notes, so I’ll be sending those out hopefully tomorrow!


And since it’s Friday, I’m sharing some of my FAVORITES with y’all!


I have LOVED looking at baby clothes–even though right now I’m only looking at gender neutral things!  I started thinking about it and I’ll have to have a whole bunch of stuff (like clothes) to take with us once our baby is born!  And I don’t want to have to spend a ton of money at once so my goal is to buy maybe one outfit or item every 2 weeks.  
I saw this on the Nordstrom website and maybe I’ll bite the bullet and buy it at some point 😜  I think this is the MOST PRECIOUS thing ever!!  Yes, I know it’s a little expensive for a baby outfit, but I’ve spent so many years buying expensive clothes for other people for their baby showers that I just want to buy my own baby something nice 😊



Last night was the finale of Southern Charm and Cameran is ALWASY my FAVE!!  Her sense of humor is the best and she seems to stay out of the drama (which is what I like!).  Last night just reaffirmed Ashley’s insane psychotic ways.  I don’t get how she functions in society?


Okay this is NOT a favorite–I watched the first half of Very Cavallari.  I was not impressed.  I liked Kristen’s part in the show, but her husband seemed rude and arrogant.  And I was not into watching her shop girls’ dramatic lives play out.  Anyone else feel that way about the show?


I’m heading down to Birmingham to meet up with my bestie and our college women’s minister for lunch and looking at cribs!!  I’ve got a post coming next week about baby stuff….and all the help I need from y’all!  Have a great weekend!


Life Lately

Hi friends!!!  It’s been a while since I’ve done a life lately, so here are some random pictures of our life lately!

 We left my mom and stepdad’s after lunch on the 4th and headed out to the river to meet up with some friends who were already out on their boats.


 We stayed out on the boats to watch the firework show at Point Mallard.  That was my first time ever watching it from the river!  There were so many boats anchored down all ready to watch the show–so fun!



 I have been a fan of Rosaria Butterfield’s ever since I heard her share her testimony one night in Nashville.  She published this book on hospitality this year and it is a MUST READ!!!  She gives examples of Christian hospitality in ways that you may not think.



 During the school year on days I’m getting ready for school, I listen to podcasts.  I haven’t done that very much this summer, so I’m trying to get back into the routine.  This podcast is very helpful for anyone who’s ever wondered what God’s will is for your life (I feel like that’s all of us!).  These Ask Pastor John episodes are pretty short, too–most are 11-13 minutes long!



 Dustin and I went up to my mom’s school (she’s a teacher, too!) to help her move stuff out of her classroom so her floors could get waxed.



I finished this book yesterday and it’s great!!!!  I’ll be doing a book recap post at the end of July/first of August and this book will be on it.  SO GOOD!!!!  It’s different from your typical Elin book but different in a good way!


And obviously our life lately has consisted of lots of talk about adoption!  Even though we’re just beginning this process and not considered an active family (that means you’re ready to match), we know that there will be a baby in the future!  It’s been so fun to talk about baby stuff and research nursery furniture and baby gear.  This is something we never did before because it was too painful.  I’m going to do a post next week asking for suggestions on baby things because it’s a little overwhelming, and we’re trying to gather things a little at a time so we’re not scrambling at the last minute!!


OH–And tomorrow starts the Nordstrom Anniversary sale!!!  I plan on doing a wishlist post this year of all the things I would buy (You know, saving $$ because of adoption!!), but I do plan on looking to actually buy a new pair of jeans for the school year!  No better time to buy jeans than when they’re 50% off!  I had lots of positive feedback last year from my Nordstrom posts, so I’ll be doing that again!  I know lots of other bloggers will be doing it, too 😊, but we all have our own style!
