Weekend Review!

Happy Monday!!!  This weekend was filled with both relaxation and busyness and it was perfect!

 Dustin and I started out Friday night with a date night to Taco Mama.  It’s a chain that we (or me?) absolutely love.  This time I got nachos and a skinny marg and it was so good!  Dustin got his usual burrito order with a flavored marg.  Sadly, we didn’t get a picture together–#newparentlife? ha!  My dress is from last summer, but this is this summer’s print!!


Saturday morning Harrison woke up at 5am (😩), so I got up with him.  After his bottle, we both fell back asleep on the couch until 8 haha!


 Then Dustin and I both exercised separately while the other person stayed with Harrison.  Then I got Harrison ready for running errands with me and died laughing when I put this hat on him.  I bought this little playsuit and hat from a Facebook group.

We stayed pretty chill Saturday night–Harrison had a bath, we ordered pizza, and Dustin watched Alabama softball while I read my book for my June book club meeting.

(It was The Lying Game by Ruth Ware and I hated every moment of it haha!!  I hate thrillers, so it was torture for me to read it.)


Sunday morning we went to church and took Harrison to the nursery for the first time ever.  Up until now, we’ve just kept Harrison in the service with us and he’s either slept in his carseat or we’ve held him.   Now that’s he’s turned 3 months, I felt like I was ready to take him to the nursery.  Of course he did great and I only worried a little during the service ha!

We went out to lunch after and then Harrison napped at home while I did a little laundry.  Sunday was a lazy day for us at home.  Later that evening, I got together with some girls from church and we watched the season finale of When Calls the Heart.  My friend Emily made Canadian snacks for us to eat while we watched.  If you watch WCTH, please tell me what you thought about the finale and about how they handled Abigail’s leave!!

Weekend Review

Happy Monday, y’all!!!  Today’s weekend review will be short and sweet because I didn’t think one bit about taking pictures to document–sometimes you just want to live in the moment and not constantly take pictures, right?!

FRIDAY
I am definitely not a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl–more like a jeans and cute top kind of girl for our casual Fridays at school.  However, it was cold on Friday, so I decided to wear a t-shirt, sweatshirt, and my Ugg slippers to school!  My feet were so warm haha!

I’m teaching a new novel so Friday I read aloud one chapter before giving students group work to do.

After school, I came home and then went to the county championship basketball games with Dustin and my dad that night.


SATURDAY
Dustin and I slept in (trying to get as much sleep as we can haha!), so after I made blueberry muffins, we got ready to go find me new luggage.  It’s so crazy but I had the hardest time finding luggage because I honestly just didn’t want to be buying any luggage to begin with.  I ended up getting a set from TJ Maxx.

Dustin and I did a few things around the house before he headed back up to the basketball championship, and my sister and I went to Target to open our baby registry.  Registering was harder than I thought because I have a lot of stuff that I’ve had to buy already.  That’s the thing about adoption–unless you want to have a shower beforehand, your shower comes after the baby is already born and you’ve already had to buy a lot of things yourself.

After registering, I was excited to get home and shower and watch a movie while laying in bed–the dream! ha!  I ended up watching Hostiles, and when Dustin got home that night, he watched the ending with me.


SUNDAY
Dustin and I had church Sunday morning and then lunch at home.  I worked on this week’s meal plan and grocery list while he tinkered out in the garage and sprayed weeds.  After a crazy trip to Walmart (we’re expected to get some snow/ice Tuesday so everyone was at Walmart), I came home to sterilize the last bit of bottles and pacis.  Yesterday was also my stepdad’s birthday, so that night we went up to my mom and stepdad’s house for dinner and cake!

Weekend Recap: Our Weekend in Auburn

Happy Monday!  This past weekend Dustin and I went to Auburn to stay with my bestie and her husband now that they live there.  Dustin is an Auburn grad so he was thrilled to go back, and as an Alabama grad, I was just thrilled to see my friend ha!  I also joked on the way home that this weekend was technically our “baby moon” if we had one 😂  I also didn’t take a ton of pictures since I was just enjoying our time together!

 We left Friday right after school and traffic was so crazy in Birmingham that it took us one hour to go 12 miles on 65.  So we got there later than what we had first thought.

They had supper waiting on us–which was wonderful since we were starving!  Chris smoked chicken and we had sautéed zucchini and squash.
 Then the boys did a bourbon tasting.  Dustin had won a bottle of Blanton’s in a fundraiser for another adoptive couple and Chris had lots of bourbon from the tour he and Janie did in KY last year.  Janie and I just hung out haha!  I think we all were in bed at midnight (way past my bedtime!).


Saturday morning we were all up by 8 and had a slow morning handing out.  We all got ready and headed out for lunch to a place Dustin used to go a lot in college–Niffers.
 It’s a hamburger place so I got a ranch burger and ate just half of it.  It was okay in my opinion–not as good as a Mugshots burger!

We drove around campus so I could see what it looked like and so Dustin could see what had changed since he graduated back in 2007.  My one goal this trip was to get a lemonade from Toomer’s Corner since the last weekend I had visited was during a home football game and the line was way too long for lemonade.  The lemonade was good 😊

I was SO excited about dinner that night because we had reservations at Acre–a place I had been wanting to eat at for years!  It’s a farm to table style restaurant and the flavors are amazing!
 We shared the bacon and goat cheese guac as appetizers.


 I had the pork schnitzel and those brussels were my very favorite thing!


 Chris had the special–a coffee rubbed tenderloin.


 Janie had the salmon.


 Dustin had the snapper.


 And then we took pictures while waiting on our car haha!  
We went to Avondale after Acre and then back to their home to play What the Meme? which is very similar to Cards Against Humanity but with memes.  It was hilarious and we stayed up until 1am playing!


Sunday morning we were up to go to Christ Presbyterian, Chris and Janie’s church.  Dustin and I really enjoyed the sermon and getting to meet some of their friends from their church!  It’s a newer church plant that’s meeting in the alumni center on campus.  I was very encouraged by the amount of college students attending their church because so many of the younger crowd are drawn to churches with the lights and smoke and loud music, and instead, these kids were attending a church plant with solid theology.  After, we walked to Taziki’s for lunch and then Dustin and I packed our things to head back home!

I finished Becoming and it was so good!  Dustin got it for me for Christmas and I found it very interesting!  She’s also a great writer, so not only were the stories interesting but it was enjoyable to read because of her writing style.  

We stopped by Trader Joe’s in Birmingham on the way home to pick up a few things and then made it home before 6!  I ran to the grocery store, Dustin started laundry, and then I was in bed and asleep by 8:30–exhausted haha!
