Weekend Review: The Busiest Weekend Ever!

Happy Monday!!  I hope as you’re reading today’s post that you’re listening to some kind of Christmas music 🙂  I’m actually listening to a Hallmark Christmas movie as I type this haha!

I had a jam-packed weekend that was so fun but also one of those weekends that you need another weekend to recover from haha!  I didn’t get any pictures from Friday, but as soon as I got home from school, I changed clothes and Dustin and I headed with his parents to set up our craft booth at his cousin’s church that we had as an adoption fundraiser.  His family (along with some others) had been crafting things for us to sell to help raise money to pay our adoption agency fee.

Friday night was set up night and of course it was pouring rain.  It took us about an hour to set up and figure out how we wanted things in our 8×8 space.  After we finished, we went to the mall nearby for me to return something and to eat supper.  After running a few more errands, I think we finally got in bed at 10:30PM (already past my bedtime!).

On Saturday, our alarm went off at 5:30AM because we had to leave at 6:30AM to get to our booth the time we were required to be there.
 I think we did pretty good for first-timers!  We sold all of those items and then sold raffle tickets.  The multicolored quilt was part of the raffle.


 People were so nice when they found out we were raising money for an adoption.  One woman cried and hugged me and another woman gave me a t-shirt she bought there last year from an adoption fundraiser.

Alabama played Georgia that afternoon, and lucky for us, the market was over at 2–which allowed us to quickly pack away the few items we had left and head home to catch the game.  I think I ended up taking maybe a 10 minute nap during halftime haha!


 And fun fact about me that you probably didn’t know: I LOVE boxing!  Seriously, I was raised on watching boxing matches.  There was a big fight Saturday night starting at 8PM, so we all headed to my dad’s since he bought it on ppv.  The main event didn’t come on until 11:20-30ish??


 This is how Rachel and I were haha!  We were exhausted!  It was a great fight, and actually, 2 out of the 3 fights before the main event were really good, too.  Dustin and I got home, I washed my hair (because I knew I would have a hard time getting up to do it before church), and went to bed at 1AM–WAY PAST MY BEDTIME!!!

Sunday morning we got up for church, and then after lunch, I laid down to take a much-needed nap.  I really needed to clean around the house, but I was also so tired.
 I love wearing our adoption t-shirt and the most comfortable pj pants ever!

Sunday night I went with some friends from school to a coworker’s church for a ladies’ night to kickoff the advent season.  We had dessert so I got red velvet cake!


And these were the sweet friends who rode with me!

Alabama vs Mississippi State

Before I get started with today’s post, I’d like to thank my favorite Veterans for their service!  My dad was in the Air Force and was stationed in Italy for two years (which is why my sister and I grew up knowing a few Italian phrases, and my older sister actually got to live there!), and my Popo, my dad’s dad, who was in the Army and fought in Korea.  It is because of their sacrifice and dedication that I can enjoy the freedoms I have!

Saturday morning Dustin and I were up early and out of the house by 6:30am to head down to Tuscaloosa, my alma mater, to watch Alabama play Mississippi State.  I’m never excited to get moving that early on a Saturday morning, but for this, I was ready!  

We try to go to at least one football game a season, so this was our game for this current season.  The game started at 2:30, but we got to Tuscaloosa early so we could walk around campus, eat on the Strip, and get in the stadium a little early.

We met up with my coworker and parked at their RV spot and hung out a little.  Then Dustin and I headed to campus.  We went to the Ferg (student building) where they’ve expanded it since I graduated.  I wanted to walk around the Supe Store–which is now HUGE!!  We found the baby section and I almost bought a UA onesie for the baby 😍😍

We walked over to the Strip because I wanted to eat at Buffalo Phil’s (my favorite place in college to eat and where I ate at least once a week), but it was 10:45am and the line was already out the door, so we walked over to Glory Bound Gyro to eat.  Then we walked across the street to the Houndstooth to hang out until we were ready to walk to the stadium.

 Didn’t we have awesome seats?!  Because it was Veteran’s Day weekend, they honored Veterans throughout the game.  SOCOM Para-Commandos jumped out of helicopters into the stadium before the game began to bring in the flags and the game ball.  It was amazing to watch!  The Million Dollar Band also had a great show dedicated to the Armed Forces.



 We sat with my coworker and her husband (Hi Eve!) and notice how bundled up Eve and I are.  When I checked the temperature for Tuscaloosa that day, it said the high was 47 degrees.  It felt much colder where we were sitting (in the old press box area), and the wind coming in from behind us was freezing!



 Dustin, the rule-breaker, was so excited to be there!



Toward the end of the game, the temperature dropped down to 33 degrees and I was SO COLD!!!  I’m using two blankets in this picture!  

Alabama won–ROLL TIDE– and we had a great time!!  Thank you, Eve, for letting us sit with y’all!

Weekend Review: The One Where I Took Zero Pictures

Happy Monday, y’all!  I’m up early Monday morning writing this and it feels more like winter than fall with the 33 degree temp right now!  This weekend was a fun one, but I didn’t take hardly any pictures–I guess subconsciously I decided to live in the moment instead of having my phone out the whole time.

We’ll start with Thursday since that was the start of the weekend when I was in college…😂
 It was cool on Thursday so I was really excited to get to wear my Spanx leggings to school! They are really comfortable yet stylish.  Obviously I have to wear a longer top with them to school so this tunic top is perfect!  It comes in a lot of other colors, but I like the black with this outfit.

 Friday night we kicked off my birthday week celebration by going to eat at one of my favorite restaurant’s in Birmingham, Little Donkey.  I like to refer to it as hipster Mexican food haha!  This restaurant is owned by the same people who own Jim N Nick’s BBQ so the meat is all cooked the same way and everything is fresh.  I decided to order something other than my usual tacos or salad and got a chicken quesadilla–it was great!  I also got the Mexican street corn but this time I had them cut it off the cob so I didn’t get corn all over my face–the best!!

Then we headed over to The Summit to walk around and do some window shopping.  I also have some money saved up from the blog that I still haven’t spent yet (surprisingly 😜).  But Dustin’s insulin pump started malfunctioning and wouldn’t deliver his insulin–obviously not good.  That caused us to scrap the rest of our plans–which included going to The Cheesecake Factory for dessert–and instead I ran in to grab myself a slice of cheesecake to eat on the way home.  Thankfully once we got home and he changed out his port, his machine was able to deliver insulin.  I hate diabetes.


 I slept in until almost 7:30 Saturday morning and did a little reading in this book.  Remember when I went to The Gospel Coalition Women’s Conference back in June?  They had the biggest book store there, and both Janie and I spent about $100 on books–we just couldn’t help it! LOL  I’ve been slowly making my way through my stack of books, so this is my book that I’m reading currently.  I’m going to do a review about it because I’ve pretty much told everyone I’ve come in contact with to buy this book because it’s that good–good in that I’ve been extremely convicted in how I really am ungrateful and encouraged to show more gratitude in the hard season….like the one I’m in now haha.


Our Adult Bible Fellowship class (just like Sunday School class) at our church threw us an adoption fundraiser social Saturday night at one of our leader’s home.  It was such a fun night!!  We ate really good food (click here for the cookie recipe), the ladies played Bunco, and there was a money tree and dessert silent auction with all money going towards helping to bring our sweet baby home!!  Dustin and I were talking about how it’s been a little over a year since we officially became members at our church and I thank God for giving us such a good community to be part of.

Sunday I took zero pictures but it was a pretty average Sunday.  We went to church and I didn’t get my act together in time to order my groceries online Saturday for Sunday pick up, so I actually went to Walmart after church (never again).  Dustin and I cleaned up the house, I made taco soup, and we watched another episode of Jack Ryan together.  We ended the night with him watching Yard Crashers and me watching The Office–see how different we are 😜
