Weekend Review: Last One in September!

Hey friends!  Sorry for my absence yesterday–Sunday was a busy day (you’ll see haha) so I didn’t get a chance to do this blog post.

This weekend was really fun!  It was jam-packed but worth it!
 Friday night Dustin and I went to the homecoming football game.  It was so crowded!  Because of that, I didn’t take a picture of us while we were there, so this is one from when we got home!  We played a team in the class right below us who is ranked #1, and the game went into overtime, but we won!  The weather was perfect that night, too.  There’s nothing worse than sitting at a crowded football game in the sweltering heat where everyone is sweating….yuck.


Saturday I finally did the Walmart grocery pick up!  We don’t have that in my town yet, but the drive was worth it to not have to go into the grocery store.  I’m sure I’m the last person on earth to do the online pick up haha!


 Sunday I went with some ladies from my school to an iced sugar cookie class in Tennessee!  We had the BEST time and I learned so much!

 I think they turned out pretty good!!!  I learned that I’m not the best at outlining so that’s something I’ll have to practice on haha!


 And then Sunday night Dustin and I worked on getting the t-shirts that came in this weekend organized so we could get them delivered!!  If you bought one that needed shipping, we shipped it Monday!  My mom came over for an hour to help us and she was a big help!


I didn’t go to bed until 11 PM that night–can’t you see how tired I am?!  WAY past my bedtime!!

Christmas Ornament Fundraiser + Weekend Happenings!

It’s Monday already?!  This weekend flew by way too fast and it was also the hottest weekend ever in Alabama.  I’ll talk more about that at the end of this post 😊

My sweet friend Hailey is the craftiest person I know.  She’s my partner teacher and is always doing something cute for her classroom, and I’m next door trying to find where I can buy something cute haha!!  I hate crafts…sadly!

She surprised me with a new fundraiser idea for Baby Shaneyfelt, and I know y’all are going to love it!!

Ornaments range in size from 2.25-2.75 inches in diameter.

Ornaments are $10 each, all of which will go toward our adoption fund!

Ornaments will be ready by Monday, November 5th!

Y’all, these would make the cutest little gifts, too!  I feel like this is the cutest thing to get your coworkers, kids’ teachers, ornament exchange, and for your tree, too!

And for this weekend’s happenings…

 Friday’s #ootd was a favorite.  I love that top from Anthro (*I bought it early May so I’m sure it’s sold out!)

And on Saturday before football started, I went with Mom and Rachel to our town’s annual festival.  It was the hottest day ever and we sweated so much that I didn’t want anyone to even be near me!  One of the weathermen said that we should have real fall weather at the end of the month, so I’m just really praying for that!

Weekend Review + March 2018 Reads

Y’ALL.  My spring break is officially over 😩😩  I most definitely enjoyed having a week off and it’s making me really excited for summer break because I love setting my own schedule   My last weekend was a fun one, though, so I’m sharing it with y’all today!

Friday I finished reading an EXCELLENT book that I’ll share at the end of this post because you need to read it, too.  And then we got ready for my sister’s spin class that evening.

 Friday night was Dustin’s first night at spin…and he survived!

 Nick (my BIL) and I are old pros at Rachel’s class 



 Then we went home, showered quickly, and met back up for Mexican food!  You know, while our metabolism was still working haha!


On Saturday, Dustin and I spent most of the day in Birmingham.  We wanted to go away for the weekend, but with the weather being iffy along with the fact that we’re only a few months away from being out of student loan debt, we opted to save the money and do a day trip.

Our first stop (and one I didn’t get any pictures of) was to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.  Dustin had never been and it was a great day to go because everyone was at the gardens!  The sun ended up peeking out, but most of the flowers weren’t in bloom so we’ll have to go back in May.  Oh, we did get to see an engagement happen!
 Our next stop was Dustin’s pick for lunch.  I used to eat at Mugshots a lot in Tuscaloosa during college, so I was happy to eat there.  Our service was horrible this time–I’m not sure if they were understaffed or what.



 Then we drove over to Avondale to go to the brewery.  They have an outdoor space behind their brewery with a stage and outdoor bar.  They had two guys performing on the stage and lots of people brought their dogs and babies haha–we had a great time people watching!



Yes, I even sat on the grass 😜



Then we went to downtown Homewood to walk around and shop.  We had to stop by Cookie Fix, so if you’re ever in Homewood, make sure you stop by there!!  Look up Cookie Fix on IG if you want to see their different cookies.


Sunday I took zero pictures, but we went to church like we always do.  Then we grocery shopped, went back to church, and ate at Zaxby’s.  It was a low key day, but a fun one because we spent it together 😊


And now for the one, but EXCELLENT, book that I read this month!  I’m currently in the middle of Longing for Motherhood, so I’ll review that next month.

My book club’s book for this month was The Alice Network.  I initially wasn’t that excited about it because all I knew was that it was about female spies, and that really doesn’t excite me.  But I’m so glad I had to read it!  There are two main storylines in this novel–Eve which takes place in 1915 and Charlie’s in 1947.  Both of these women’s lives intersect and there is a subplot with a love story, too!  It’s a longer novel but kept me interested the entire time, so I highly recommend this for anyone!
