Friday Favorites

Happy, Happy Friday, my friends!!!! I hope you’ve had a wonderful week! It’s been a great week for us because Dustin has been off of work all week long, so it’s been nice having him around during the day 🙂

Today I’m sharing a few of my FAVORITES with you from the week!

One

Harrison and I have made frequent trips to our downtown during his morning snack time to sit and wait on a train to pass. It has literally been the best thing I have thought of this summer because not only is it a free activity, but he gets so excited every time he sees a train pass by! And we sit at a bench across the street from my sister’s studio, so he gets to see her most days, too 🙂

I took a screenshot of Shay Shull’s story the other day because the workout looks good and doable but also challenging…if that all makes sense ha! I ran yesterday for the first time in 3-4ish years. It felt amazing to be back out on the pavement, but since I’ve had my Peloton bike (since December 2019), I have grown to love spinning along with lots of strength workouts. I used to only run and I’d run 4x a week. I’m excited to incorporate running into my weekly workouts because I can’t see myself ever not using my Peloton.

I know I sound like I’m beating a dead horse over these jeans, but I never knew I could love a jean that wasn’t a dark wash skinny jean. Yes, they are pricey, but I’m going to be wearing these for years. The fabric is high quality, and I firmly believe that once you buy high quality jeans you won’t be able to go back to the cheaper kinds!

We spend a lot of time outside playing at my house. Harrison was gifted a water table at his first birthday and we’ve used it a lot since then! Not only does he love playing with all of the parts, but he loves to sit in it ha! I’ve linked a few similar water tables here, here, and here! These would make excellent additions to grandparent homes, too 🙂

We’ve got new construction going on in our subdivision, and Harrison is ALL ABOUT IT! We walk multiple times a day to look at the “tractors” (which is what Harrison calls all machinery). I snapped this picture of him–on a really hot day–watching the construction workers pushing around some dirt. He loved it. Also, his shoes are my absolute FAVORITES and I am about to order him another pair a size up for him to grow in to. I typically order these shoes one size bigger than he needs so he can grow into them. He’s never had problems with them slipping off. I love that these can be worn daily but also in the water!

Happy Good Friday! We had our Maundy Thursday church service last night, so I’m currently writing this early Friday morning 🙂 I think this Holy Week has renewed an excitement in me because unlike last year, we’re getting to worship in person this year. I’m never going to take that for granted again.

Like usual, I’m going to share a few FAVORITES with you today!!!

I shared this picture on Wednesday, but I want to talk about my lip color. I’ve mentioned this lip stain before, but now I’m back to tell you IT’S MY FAVORITE EVER!!! I probably would never have been willing to try this matte lip stain if it weren’t for the unique circumstances of this past year. It all started because even though I’m teaching in a mask all day long, I still wanted to wear color on my lips so I could feel more like myself. Lipstick wasn’t cutting it because it was wiping off way too easily, so I tried this lip stain. While it does transfer a little to your mask, it has never transferred over to my face. I reapply after lunch and I’m good to go! The price is the best and I have probably 5 different colors at this point. #13 is my go-to every day color!

I didn’t think it would work for my body type, but I’ve found a pair of biker shorts that are a major FAVORITE!! These are super soft and buttery feeling and are also the perfect length–not too long (which was a worry) but also not too short. Yes, the price is a bit high but I plan on living in these once it warms up. All of my other IVL clothing has held up well so I know these will also!

I finally took Ally Love’s 30 minute Nikki Minaj class on the Peloton and it was a lot of fun! I enjoy taking Ally’s classes because she’s so motivating and fun. My favorite instructor is definitely Cody, but I also love taking classes from Ally, Jess King, Emma Lovewell, and Kendall. Ones that I never gravitate toward but still enjoy are Alex and Olivia.

Wednesday was such a gross and rainy day, and Harrison and I definitely got stir crazy staying in the house all day. Earlier in the week, Harrison had helped me make cupcakes, so I iced one to give him as a snack (which is definitely out of the norm for us!). He ate the icing and that was it haha! And as you can see, he was really enjoying himself 🙂 Everything about him is a FAVORITE!

I recently finished The Blue Bistro and it might be my FAVORITE Elin Hilderbrand book ever!! I love all of her books (except for The Matchmaker–my most disliked book of hers haha!), but The Blue Bistro was excellent! I love that her books are still chick lit, but a little deeper because her characters have real issues. This one was different than all of her others and also REALLY made me want to visit Nantucket! Dustin may not realize it, but we’re going as soon as we can haha!

Lastly, it’s weird to have a scale as a favorite, but this one really is. I bought Dustin this scale for Christmas (but we both have accounts) and it’s been extremely helpful since we’ve both been working to lose weight since Harrison’s 2nd birthday party. I love that it measures a multitude of things along with your weight–BMI, water intake, muscle mass, body fat percentage, metabolic age, etc. It also keeps a record of each time you weigh and graphs it. I can go back to the first day of our weightloss journey and the most recent time I’ve weighed and see how much body fat I’ve lost. It’s been a great purchase! You can get 20% off with this link!

Happy happy Friday!!! It’s been a while since I’ve done a Friday Faves post, so I’m ready to share a few things with y’all!

First, I totally forgot about Shay from Mix and Match Mama’s Let’s Look linkup on Wednesday. While I posted about my WELLNESS goals this year, she was sharing her coffee bar. I didn’t start drinking coffee until I was 27 and I started with something sweet–a pumpkin spice latte!!! Now I can’t stomach drinking something so sweet.

These days I wake up and drink my light roast Nespresso pod and I use 1-2 TBS of Chobani vanilla creamer. I try to drink only one cup a day, but sometimes I drink one in the morning and one in the afternoon. It’s such a treat!

I got these IVL leggings for Christmas and I LOVE them! This is the 3rd pair I own and this color is definitely a favorite. I know it’s technically a cold weather color, but you’ll see me wearing these this summer, too haha!

I have this JCrew sweater in a few different colors. It’s so soft and washes so well! It’s actually been pretty cold here lately so they’ve all been on a rotation. I’m also wearing my favorite lip stain! It really stays on all day. My favorite color is #13 and it can be worn every day–this red that I’m wearing is always fun for a pop of color.

Need I say anymore?!?! I started watching this on December 27th and was finished by midnight the following night. SO GOOD!! I also read the book and didn’t think it was the best. I much preferred the things they changed in the show.
