Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!!! The opening ceremony of the Olympics starts tonight and I am so excited!! I love the Olympics but especially after what last year was like, we need something to cheer on. Dustin’s birthday is Sunday and I’m throwing him an Olympic-themed party 🙂

Today’s FAVORITES post is going to be short and sweet because as I’m writing this Thursday night, I’m hurrying to get in bed because my mom and I are going to breakfast and then shopping!

I did a Day in the Life post from earlier this week, and I think we can all agree how much we all love reading about other people’s days 🙂 I’ll be the first to admit I’m always fascinated how people spend their days.

Two

I finished reading Starry Night this week and LOVED IT!!!! If you’re looking for something light and easy, this book is for you!! I had no idea it was actually a Christmas novel when I checked it out on the Libby app, but it’s not overly Christmas-themed. Carrie, the main character, is a society page editor who is tired of writing about parties and wants to write more serious pieces. Her boss tells her if she can track down a new popular author who is like a recluse and get an interview, she can write whatever she wants. Carrie heads to Alaska to track down Finn and…..you’ll have to read the rest 🙂 It was a quick read and I read this in two days.

I technically haven’t finished The Nantucket Inn yet–I’m a quarter of the way through!!–BUT this book is already a favorite!! I like the premise of the story and when I checked it out, I didn’t realize it was book 1 of a series. Lisa’s husband has passed away and she found out he gambled all of their savings away. She wants to keep her home so she decides to transform it as a bed and breakfast. Her four adult children all have issues of their own, so it’s been really fun reading about multiple characters. Plus, the setting is Nantucket and seems completely idyllic!

I want to leave y’all with a peek into my life as a toddler boy mom 🙂 Dustin was working late one night, so I was putting Harrison to bed by myself. While I was calling for him, he ran out of the hallway like this, so naturally I had to snap a picture before I made him put the pitcher up haha! He sometimes wears that pitcher as a hat, and we’re breaking him from his paci so he’s been chewing on that teething toy more lately.

Happy Friday! I hope y’all have had a great week–it’s been a rainy week for us. Yesterday was the first day in a long time that it didn’t rain and the temp got up to 90.

I woke up this morning at 2 AM cst to shop the Nordstrom sale. I hate how they’ve done the tiers this year and I wish it was the way it used to be–one shopping day for cardholders and then one for non-cardholders….no tier system based on how much you spend. I may come back out with a post later today sharing the stuff I was able to get or I may do it tomorrow morning. It depends on how much time I get today (aka how much time Harrison lets me ha!). Then I’ll do a post sharing a try on once it comes in and I try it all on! Dustin is also ordering some things and I’m getting a few basics for Harrison.

As usual, today I’m sharing a few of my FAVORITES!!!

I shared my current podcast favorites on Monday and was so disappointed that a new episode of the Mars Hill podcast didn’t release. I was really looking forward to it, and it might be my #1 listen currently because the story is so engrossing. The Bestie Breakdown episode this week was on fitness and it was really good!

I cut my hair short!!! I cut about 4 inches off and I’m loving it! I need to update with a picture after I’ve washed and styled it myself, but I really do like shorter hair right now.

I’ve mentioned this stain remover on my blog before, but it’s worth mentioning again. I was telling my small group girls about it Wednesday night and how much I am obsessed with it. I use it A TON now that Harrison is an active toddler. Usually I can just dot the stain or stains and let it sit for a bit before washing. But if it’s a big stain, I’ll let it sit and then scrub it with a toothbrush. Everything has come out except for a rust stain! (I even got an oil stain out of a chiffon fabric dress!)

This is the epitome of our daily routine 🙂 Harrison loves to visit the construction sites in our neighborhood to play with the rocks and see the “tractors” haha. This picture is slightly blurry because all he does is run! His sippy cup is the best one I’ve found, and it’s all I buy!

Hey friends! I am so glad you’re here today! I can’t believe it’s Friday and already July–I do not want to think about school starting but it’s inevitable 🙁 I go back August 1st (I think??)–when do teachers and students go back where you live?

I love the Hallmark Christmas in July celebration! Christmas is my favorite time of the year and I could watch Christmas movies all year long. Even though the movies haven’t started on the Hallmark channel yet, they’ve already started on the movies and mysteries channel, so I’ve been watching those.

I am really excited about this sale! I am a big researcher when it comes to using skincare because I want results but I also don’t (can’t) want to spend $300 on one product. I’ve heard about so many people using this brand and the price point is good for me. They announced this 4th of July sale so I pulled the trigger and bought these:

radiant cleansing balm – this is going to be my face cleanser–I love that you put it on your skin while your skin is dry!

extreme recovery cream – I’m going to use this as my night time moisturizer

sheer renewal cream – this is going to be my morning moisturizer. I’ve also read that this is a great primer, too, so it could actually get rid of my primer. We’ll see how it works out that way!

I like taking pictures of Harrison on Sundays after church (and let’s be real, after church because before church we are rushing to leave! haha!) and I always take them on the front porch. This past Sunday, Harrison wanted them next to the gates that Dustin was building for our privacy fence because Harrison loved playing with the gates, so I took his picture there 🙂 He’s also smiling like he’s ready for me to hurry and take the picture so he can hurry up and play lol!

Excuse the picture quality, it’s terrible because I zoomed in so much. I’ve been painting the house so things are out of sort. The TV is off the wall, so Harrison has had to watch Cocomelon on the computer. One morning I put it on for him while I was cooking his breakfast and I looked and he was watching while holding the Nutella jar haha–he LOVES Nutella and calls it “tella” and wants it on his pancakes….which he had that morning 🙂

Who is excited about the Olympics?! ME ME ME!!! We watched the trials (and a girl from our hometown made the long jump team!) and Dustin and I are so ready for the Olympics to begin. His birthday is July 25th, so I’ve talked him into having a Team USA birthday party that night while we watch the Olympics. I’m obviously going to wear USA themed clothes and came across this sweatshirt–too hot for this summer but would be cute for this winter!
