Happy 2023! I am excited for this year to begin and I have high hopes for this year–I especially hope that this is the year we add a new baby to our family, but I am constantly working on my trust in God and His timing and sovereignty over our lives.
The past couple of years I have not set goals because my schedule was really dictated by Harrison’s. (I’d say the only thing I did last year that I completed was changing my quiet time to the morning and that’s been the best change!) But now that he’s almost 4 (still cannot get over that), I have a little more lee-way in that area–as in, he will let me workout and I don’t have to worry about him putting something dangerous in his mouth or trying to climb up on the cabinets ha! So this year, I’m inspired to create attainable goals and I look forward to completing them!
1. Finish BBG 1.0
I have been struggling with finding a workout routine that I can stick to since Harrison was born. My husband works a strange schedule and it’s been extremely difficult for me to find a rhythm in that. My friend Hailey likes to workout, and before Harrison was born, we used to workout together. She’s really motivated in her exercising and she’s a mother of 3. After eating terribly on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, I texted her to see if she wanted to do BBG with me. She said yes and wanted to start the next day!! So far we’ve completed week 1 and my goal is to complete the entire program!
2. Swap to a clean deodorant and body lotion
I’m slowly working to change out products I use personally, so this year I want to change out my deodorant and body lotion–especially since our skin is our largest organ.
3. Get rid of plastic food storage containers and move to all glass
As you can see, I’ve read a lot about endocrine disruptors haha! If you’ve been around here for a while, you may remember that I suffer from endometriosis, so this year I want to do as much as I can to regulate my hormones naturally because endometriosis is a terrible disease.
4. Eat gluten free more often
I went gluten free last summer in June and then a week later went on a trip of a women’s conference. I could definitely tell a difference in my mental clarity and energy when I ate gluten free–it was just difficult. When I was swapping to gf eating, I noticed that I ate a lot of gf foods already, there were just a few things I needed to swap like my bread or the frozen chicken nuggets I like to eat. It was the eating out that was the hardest, so this year, I hope to tackle that and become gf!
5. Mail 3 notes a month
I love handwritten notes. I mean, who doesn’t?! Sometimes I will randomly write a card and drop it in the mail to a friend or my sister, but I need to be more consistent in my note writing because I really believe that receiving a note in the mail can brighten someone’s day.
I’d love to know what some of your goals are this year!
