Life Lately

Happy Monday! Today I wanted to share a little life lately and what we’re been up to the past month or so.

We met our best friends at the Birmingham Zoo over our spring break and it was so much fun. The zoo had just opened a dinosaur exhibit and it exceeded my expectations for sure. The dinosaurs were so life-like and they moved!

These two have spent a lot of time cheering their big brother on while he plays baseball. The snacks definitely help, though 🙂

Easter this year was beautiful weather. We did an Easter egg hunt the day before at my aunt’s house with my kids’ cousins and they had a blast. She always makes our family gatherings so fun.

We did Easter lunch at our house and everyone changed into comfortable clothes. My mom fixed a baked potato bar and we had some desserts and then everyone went home and we all took a nap!

I asked this question on my IG stories the other day and then went to my Goodreads account to see what my answer would be. First, an overwhelming majority of people who responded to my question said Theo of Golden (which makes me reconsider reading it although it doesn’t look like my type of book). So when I had to decide my best book of the year so far, I realized I didn’t really have one! I read The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell not too long ago and while I liked it, I didn’t LOVE it like everyone else. Sam’s character reminded me of Ted Lasso in that he was such a likable character that you couldn’t find any sort of fault in him in how he dealt with his life situations. Then I read The Girls in the Stilt House and as of right now, I’m declaring that my favorite book of 2026 so far. If I hadn’t been in public when I finished it, I would have cried vs tearing up. It was a really heart-wrenching story of resilience.

Dustin and I recently went to see Mt. Joy in concert and it was SO GOOD!!! It was a Tuesday night but totally worth the late night out on a school night.

Last week has been tournament week for baseball and even though we play rec league, our team (along with lots of other rec league teams) signed up to participate in this tournament. Harrison played 3 games last week and his team won them all, so we played almost an hour away on Saturday for the championship game.

They won!!! The boys all got a big ring and I left really sunburnt haha. I am glad this tournament week is over and that we’re back to rec league and playing all of our games at home.

I hope y’all have a great week ahead! We’ve got a baseball game tonight and one more this week and then I plan on LOTS of resting at home the other days because last week was SOOOO BUSY for us.

Friday Favorites!!!

Happy, happy Friday! I’m writing this Friday morning after I finished my quiet time (Day 100 of The Bible Recap!!!!) and when my alarm went off this morning, I had to really think about what day it was and if I had to get up and go to school. I. Am. So. Tired. Merritt has had attachment/sleep issues since she had 2 ear infections over a month ago, and it’s been rough.

Anyway, it’s Friday and I’m sharing some of my FAVORITES!!!

Merritt’s cup is a HUGE favorite for me! I got it for her for Christmas and I wish I would have gotten it for her earlier. It’s a glass cup but covered in silicone (maybe that’s what it is?) so it’s been dropped many, many times and it hasn’t broken. I just didn’t want her to be drinking out of plastic and a Yeti cup like the boys had was too big and heavy for her. This cup is absolutely perfect and I HIGHLY recommend!! (They also have bigger sizes for adults and big kids)

We are in the thick of baseball season over here. Harrison has improved so much since last season, and at his game last night, he got a hit all 3 times he batted! He’s playing 8U now and I just found out games are now 75 minutes–which is rough when our game didn’t start until 7:25PM last night.

Easter was so sweet this year! I was afraid it was going to be raining on Easter, but the rain stopped before day break on Easter and it was such a beautiful, sunny (but cold) day! Banks and Merritt’s outfits are from the heirloom collection from Lullaby Set and Harrison is wearing all Beaufort Bonnet. I am continuously grateful to the Lord for these three 🙂

Banks has been picking me a “flower” every morning on our walk into his and Merritt’s school. He’s such a sweet boy who has such a precious heart. He also tells me every morning that I’m beautiful 🙂 I know he’s going to make an excellent husband one day, but whenever I meet my future daughter-in-law, I will be telling her that Banks has promised me that when he grows up to be a daddy (an adult haha), he’s going to make my coffee every morning so I need her to know that LOL

We have a fun date night planned for next week–we’re going to a concert!!! We’re going to see a band that neither one of us has ever seen and I’ll be sharing about it more next week–can’t wait!

Merritt is TWO!!!

Today is Merritt’s 2nd birthday! I can’t believe that two years ago today, I woke up (after a sleepless night with Banks) praying and telling God that I was content with His plan for whenever Merritt arrived. I was so against having an induction with her, but I was very nervous that an induction was where I was headed since she was past due and my doctor wouldn’t let me go past 41 weeks.

So I prayed that morning, took a nap when my mom came over to watch the boys since I seriously was up with Banks the night before, and then I woke up from my nap and BAM! My water breaks!

At 8:48 PM, Merritt came into the world and changed our lives for the better :). You can read her birth story here!

Harrison prayed so much for a baby sister after we brought Banks home. And over and over again, Dustin and I would tell him that our family was just going to have two little boys and to be thankful and well….God answered his little 4 year old prayers.

Her brothers love her so much and are so patient with her.

Merritt is full of so much personality AND she loves to play dress up!

Merritt is OBSESSED with Toy Story and loves Woody and Buzz so much.

She loves playing with baby dolls. I’ll catch her rocking a baby doll or trying to feed one with a play bottle. And she sleeps with her stuffed bunny every single night while holding onto its ear.

And I’m thankful that my sister dropped everything when I decided during labor that I actually did want pictures of Merritt’s birth, and because of that, I’ve got these sweet images 🙂

Merritt Elizabeth Anne, you were the surprise of a lifetime. God knew our family wasn’t complete yet, even though we were so sure it was. You’ve brought us so much joy and I love watching the way the boys interact with her and how much she loves her brothers. Her daddy and I love her so much!
