Saturday we had our first taste of fall thanks to all of the rain from Hurricane Isaias. Temps were in the low 60s all day, it was rainy, and it was the perfect day to stay in and be cozy. Because of that, I made apple butter for the first time and while it cooked 10 hours in the crockpot, the house smelled sooooo good! This is the recipe I made and I used a mixture of Honeycrisp and Granny Smith apples.
Since we’re almost halfway through October (and less than 2 weeks from my birthday!!!!!!!!), I thought I’d share a few scenes from the month so far!

We started off the month celebrating Oktoberfest in Cullman, a city south of us that has German heritage, so celebrating Oktoberfest there feels really normal. We saw lots of people wearing traditional German clothing (I’m not even going to look up the spelling for their outfits ha) and even more people we knew! Dustin and I were most excited to eat German food–he got curry wurst, I got schnitzel, and the kids had German pizza (not sure if it was really German but that’s what the sign said. We saw a brat eating contest, tasted maple cotton candy, and walked a ton! It was fun and I can’t wait to go back next year!

Banks is playing t-ball this year and every game is Saturday morning. Well, when Dustin found out one of Banks’s games was at the same time as the Alabama-Mississippi State game, he tried to get it moved up earlier in the morning. As you can see from the picture, that didn’t work haha. He stood out on the field with Banks watching the game on his phone with an airpod in.

I had my 20 year high school reunion (how am I old enough to have that?!? LOL) and it was nice to see some people I hadn’t seen in a very long time. My mom asked if my best friend was there and I had to remind her that she graduated a year after me haha! I wish she was there!

I went back to nontoxic deodorant and searched high and low for a deodorant that was actually nontoxic (Native isn’t) but also not a million dollars. I’ve used Primally Pure before and while I absolutely loved it, I felt it was a little expensive and I wanted something I could buy at a store. Well, my Target only has Native so I looked at Zebra, Just Ingredients, Hume, etc. And I always kept coming back to Primally Pure because it doesn’t have baking soda in it–which means your armpits aren’t detoxing–and it’s beef tallow based (and y’all know I have a soft spot for beef tallow!). I ordered a new scent this time and it’s been great! I think next time I want to order Blue Tansy since I know it’s a bestseller for them.

Harrison finished up soccer and he had a great season! He’s just so naturally fast and it makes watching him so exciting and fun!

Friday the ambulance came to Banks’s and Merritt’s school for them to learn about and I got this sweet picture of Merritt living her best life in her Alabama cheerleader dress ๐

And Banks was having the time of his life in his Alabama football jersey!
That’s it for the first half of October! We’re celebrating my sister’s birthday tonight after t-ball ๐
