I’m double posting today, so don’t forget to check out my recipe for my Green Chile Chicken Tacos!
For today’s Show and Tell Tuesday, it’s all about the best gift you’ve ever received. My immediate thought was my engagement ring, but that’s so cliche and I didn’t get that for Christmas. I had to think about what I was going to write about because my husband is really good at gift-giving!
My best gift from Dustin comes from the Christmas before we got engaged–2012. I was living with my parents because I knew we would be getting engaged at some point so I was just saving my money. I remember being at Walmart with my mom and she mentioned that she knew what Dustin got me for Christmas (I hate it when she does that!). I guess around and felt like I guessed correctly based off of her reaction–a KitchenAid Mixer! I immediately panicked. I had been wanting one forever, but the color I showed Dustin months ago was hot pink and I was positive I didn’t want hot pink anymore. I seriously fretted over the color of that “gift” for the longest.
Fast forward to Christmas day. Dustin came to my house after lunch on Christmas Day and got a pretty big package out of his truck. He then acted like it was heavy as he was carrying it into the house. He had me sit on the couch and leave the wrapped box on the floor. Everyone is gathered around watching, and I’m thinking it’s because they want to see this KitchenAid mixer–I should note that I had already thought about new recipes I wanted to try out with my mixer ha! I unwrapped it enough to open the top and there was a Paula Deen cookbook sitting at the very top of all of the packaging. I thought he was very thoughtful to get me a cookbook to go along with my new mixer. As I was reaching in the box, I knew there wasn’t a mixer in there because there was so much packaging inside. I thought that was it but Dustin told me to keep searching. Finally at the very bottom of the massive box was my gift–an iPad! I had also mentioned I wanted one of those, and he remembered and got me one! I love the story of this Christmas because he was so creative in his gift presentation, and my mom had me believing (and worrying about) I was getting that KitchenAid Mixer–which I eventually received at a wedding tea!
