Happy Friday!!!

I know summer has just begun, but I’ve already started thinking about holidays haha! I sent a message to one of my favorite children boutique owners asking about holiday pajamas–dressing Harrison in Christmas pjs is one of my favorite things to do. Amy said she has cute and tasteful Halloween/Fall pjs coming, so I’ll be getting those too! If you are in need of classic baby and children clothing, I highly recommend The White Cottage!!

Okay, let’s get started on my FAVORITE things!!!

One

Dustin and I went out on a date night last Friday night and before we got to our restaurant, we stopped by a running store I used to frequent to buy me a new pair of running shoes. I am missing running so much and ready to get back to it. Now I’ve got to find a good high-impact sports bra. Does anyone have a good recommendation that will keep things from moving? I thought about trying Spanx or Athleta.

Two

I found this candle at Walmart last month and have almost burned the entire candle. It smells just like a Bath and Body Works candle (and the frosted glass even looks similar) but it’s much cheaper!

Three

I ordered this new tank and LOVE it!!! I’ve already worn it a few different times this summer, and I think it looks great with leggings, running shorts, and even biker shorts. It runs TTS. (And ignore Dustin’s clothes piled on top of his chest of drawers. NOTHING MAKES ME MORE MAD THAN THAT AND HE KNOWS IT)

Four

We’ve had LOTS of picnics outside on the back patio this summer for lunch. I have learned that on days when Dustin is at work (he works loooooong hours so we’re home alone all day long), we keep ourselves busy all day. Picnics outside have helped break up the monotony of eating at the table, and they take a lot longer than eating at the table because a certain someone likes to go play in between bites haha!

Five

I saved my most favorite FAVORITE for last!!! My sister (a professional photographer for those who are new) shot a wedding locally Saturday. Sunday, Harrison and I got to tag along to the reception site at the family’s residence to take pictures utilizing wedding florals and furniture. It was so hot and muggy but Harrison was a trooper and did great taking pictures!

I hope y’all have a great weekend! I can’t wait for Harrison to give Dustin his Father’s Day present–I have a feeling it’s going to come in handy 🙂 And that’s all I’m going to say because Dustin may be reading this ha!

Before I get started talking about jeans today, I wanted to tell y’all that I randomly started watching the Aurora Teagarden series on Hallmark this past weekend and I am hooked! I had forgotten how much I loved Candace Cameron Bure, so I’ve tried watching a bunch of the movies in order during either nap time or after Harrison goes to bed–I love them! Funny thing–I cannot watch Dateline or anything similar because it’ll give me nightmares, so this is as close to a murder investigation show as I get……on the Hallmark Channel 🙂 LOL

Okay onto my post for today…

Remember when everyone started talking about how suddenly skinny jeans were no longer considered “cool” anymore?? I for one find that to be annoying that one generation thinks it’s okay to give their opinion about the fashion choices of another generation. I will always wear skinny jeans–I love how they fit my body. Isn’t that all that maters–is that you dress for your body type? YES! So you wear what looks best on your body 🙂

BUT, I was watching Mallory Ervin’s IG stories when she was in Rosemary trying on the latest style of “Mom jeans.” I will be the first to say that this is NOT my style of jean, nor do I think it looks good on me. But I clicked on her link anyway (I’m a sucker for links haha!!) and that started the deep dive of looking at the different types of jeans.

I found a transitional style that I wanted to try out–not quite the Mom-type jean, but looser in the leg.

Here’s what I love about the jeans: they are a lighter wash (and I always go for a darker wash), they fit great through the hips and thighs, they are looser around the ankles, they have a little stretch (but not much), and they are mid-rise. A typical Mom jean has zero stretch, is high rise, and much looser through the leg. I also got the pair with rips in the knees because they are going to be casual for me.

If you’re on the fence about trying the Mom jean trend but want to branch out from your favorite skinny jean, you should try these jeans!! If you’re an Amazon Prime member, you can order through Shopbop and get free Prime shipping–it was nice ordering these and getting them in 2 days 🙂

HALLELUJAH! It is officially summer break for me and it has been the nicest! We’ve had some rainy days but I’ll take them LOL! Since today is Friday, I’m sharing a few FAVORITES and next week I’ll share what we’ve been up to lately!

My first and forever FAVORITE is being home with this guy! We are both out of school for the summer and this past week, I have been soaking up every day with him. This was taken on my last day of school with students and we had our version of field day–a battle of the classes. My mom came over that morning and french braided my hair, and in hindsight, I should have put sunscreen on my part because the sunburn was bad…..haha

Two

I’ve never taken a pre-workout before, but I now realize I should have been taking it during the school year to give me energy. Half a scoop is all I need! This tastes amazing too.

Three

I have TWO new makeup products to share with y’all and both are super cheap! First, this new eyebrow pencil is the best I’ve ever used, and I’m not exaggerating. I’ve used higher end brow pencils like Benefit and Anastasia of Beverly Hills and I 100% feel like this one is the best–and it’s a fraction of the price. The only thing I don’t like is the spooly on the end (I think it’s too hard), so I’ve kept my empty Benefit brow pencil and use that spooly.

I also have used a million different makeup primers. The last one I used was from Smashbox and it was $$$. I was grabbing a new mascara from Walmart and came across this primer and decided to try it out. I do have redness, so I grabbed this one but they have others. I can’t tel a difference from this and the higher end ones, so I will forever use this primer! I put it all on my t-zone and the spread out to my cheeks.

I’ve been doing Weight Watchers for a few months, but I’ve struggled with having sweets. When I did WW the last time after I graduated college and lost so much weight, I had a sweet every single day that I calculated into my day. This time I’ve struggled finding something until I came across this nut butter. It’s only 3 points for 2 TBS and I love putting it on a chocolate rice cake. SO GOOD! They have lots of other flavors (that sounds amazing, too, like a smores) but some of those are 4 and 5 points, so I don’t even tempt myself thinking about those!
