What’s Up Wednesday–March 2019

Happy Wednesday!  This month’s WUW post will most likely be on one subject….baby!!….because that’s literally been our entire month of March–and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

What we’re eating this week…
Our Adult Bible Fellowship (Sunday school) is providing our meals three days a week so that’s been wonderful, and my aunt brought us food last night!

Being a Mom!


What we’ve been up to…

Just suddenly becoming parents!  If you’re new around here, read our adoption announcement here and how we got to be Harrison’s parents here.


What I’m dreading…
I can’t really say I’m dreading anything other than having to leave Harrison in May and go back to school to finish out the school year.  I cashed in on a gift card for a massage yesterday and even though it was an hour long and my mom was watching Harrison, I was nervous and sad to leave him!


What I’m excited about…
Being a Mom 🙂


What I’m watching/reading…
I’m still catching up on dvr from our time in Texas and I’m occasionally reading book 4 in the When Calls the Heart series!


What I’m listening to…
Leon Bridges since Dustin and I are going to see him next month!


What I’m wearing…
Nothing fancy–mostly pjs


What I’m doing this weekend…
My first baby shower is Sunday!!  I’m so, so excited since I opted not to do any showers with our first match.  And I have a friend’s shower to attend on Saturday.  And I’ll just be hanging out with Harrison since Dustin has to work this weekend.


What I’m looking forward to next month…
Celebrating our first holiday with Harrison–Easter!  I ordered his Easter basket while he was in the NICU.  What types of things did you get your baby for Easter?  He will be almost 2 months old–I got him a book so far haha!  I’m also excited to pick our his Easter outfit!


What else is new…
I’ll just leave you with a few pictures of Harrison 🙂  I’ll be working on a few blog posts in April and one of them will definitely be about what to bring with you if you’re adopting and having to travel.  And I’ll be sharing next week the professional pictures my sister took of Harrison!  THEY ARE THE BEST!!


What’s Up Wednesday

Happy Wednesday, y’all!

Yesterday we had a “snow” day except that the snow never showed up–which is fine because I enjoyed an off day that we don’t have to make up!  I haven’t done a WUW post in a while, so I’m excited to be doing one today.

What we’re eating this week…
Monday night I had book club so I ate at a restaurant with my book club and Dustin ate at the basketball game he went to.
Tuesday = chili
Wednesday = Shay’s fiesta chicken but in tacos
Thursday = Dustin smokes a chicken
Friday = ??


What I’m reminiscing about…
Nothing at the moment!


What I’m loving…
-I took a break from drinking La Croix after reading all these articles about a lawsuit against them, but nothing came of that (trust me, I researched) so I’m loving having a daily La Croix!
-I asked for this retinol cream for Christmas and I was using it every other day to get my skin used to it, but now I’m to every night usage and I feel like my sun spots are gradually fading!
-I’m also loving that January is almost over haha!

-I’ve been following Krista’s blog and vlogs for a while.  She recently lost her job working for MLB so she’s been doing daily vlogs while she hunts for a new job.  I LOVE these because she lives in NYC and I find life there so fascinating.  I highly recommend y’all going to her channel and watching some of them!


What we’ve been up to…
Nothing super exciting.  I don’t think January is the most exciting month of the year.


What I’m dreading…
Bus duty each day ha!  I only have maybe a week and a half left–thank goodness!


What I’m working on…
Working out a certain amount of days each week and eating healthy.  That will forever be a lifelong struggle for me–not just a January resolution.


What I’m excited about…
OUR BABY NEXT MONTH!!!

What I’m watching/reading…
I may be the last person on earth to start watching this show, but I just started watching The Great British Baking Show on Netflix and I am LOVING it!  I don’t know why it took me so long to watch it because I love all things British, but this show is great and I love watching how the contestants on this show react vs how Americans react on cooking competitions.  And I want to try these British treats!

I’m also watching Million Dollar Listing LA, This Is Us, New Amsterdam, Hallmark movies, and I’m waiting on Real Housewives of BH to come back on!

I’m currently reading The Great Alone!

Leon Bridges’s latest album since Dustin and I are going to see him in late April.

Bonus:  Favorite Valentine’s Day tradition?
Dustin and I don’t really have a Valentine’s Day tradition other than either eating out somewhere nice or cooking a nice dinner at home.  Last year, I was recovering from surgery so he made the most wonderful filet mignon ever with a wine reduction sauce, so I’ve requested that again this year.  We’re actually going to go out the weekend before as our “last meal out before baby”–it’s the closest we can get as adoptive parents haha.

Hey hey!!!  Today is the last Wednesday of the month and it also happens to be not only Halloween, but also Reformation Day!  So if you’re Protestant,  you can thank Martin Luther for nailing those 95 theses on the church door 501 years ago today!

What we’re eating this week…
I made Shay’s French onion soup and it was fabulous!!  I made a sheet pan meal last night with chicken, broccoli, and cauliflower.  Tonight we’re eating leftovers and tomorrow night I’ll make turkey burgers.


What I’m reminiscing about…
Nothing??


What I’m loving…
I’ve mentioned this brush before, but I can’t get over how much I love it.  I have really thick hair, and this brushes easily through both wet and dry hair.  I love it so much I finally threw away my brush from high school haha!!


What we’ve been up to…
October is always a month of celebrations for us!

 Dustin and I celebrated Oktoberfest the first weekend of October and ate really great German food!  We’ve decided that is going to be a yearly tradition for us and can’t wait to bring a baby with us next year!


 We had an adoption fundraiser at a local BBQ place!  We made a goal to sell 200 plates and we met that goal!  

We also had another fundraiser/social with our ABF class, but we had so much fun that night that I didn’t take any pictures!  We’ve really settled into a great community at our church and have been blown away at how wonderful they’ve been to us during this adoption process.

We celebrated my sister’s birthday on the 10th.  The pictures from that night are on her phone, so Rachel, please send me the picture of us from that night!


Then I got to celebrate my birthday twice!  First, my mom and stepdad cooked me dinner the night before my birthday since they wouldn’t be able to make it to my actual birthday dinner.



 And on my actual birthday, we celebrated with a low-key night at home with my dad, Rachel, and Nick (and my nephew Stoney!).  Dustin ordered me a cookie cake from Great American (my fave) and had them cover it in icing since that’s my favorite part haha!!  We ordered pizza and just hung out since it was raining–it was the perfect way to turn 31.



Dustin and I have a booth at an advent market to raise money for our adoption, so Dustin’s family and I started crafting some items to sell at our booth.  These are a few of those items!



What I’m dreading…
Nothing!!!  This is my favorite time of the year!!!



What I’m working on…
Losing weight haha!!!  I hope to have a post about it in January.  And I’m slowly getting back into running shape.  Oh, and the nursery.


What I’m excited about…
DECORATING FOR CHRISTMAS / EVERYTHING CHRISTMAS!!!  
I always decorate Veteran’s Day weekend, so that’s coming up!!!  Eek!


What I’m watching/reading…
We are watching Jack Ryan together and finished episode 6 last night.  It’s so good!  I’m also watching…
I watched Christmas at Pemberly Mansion and it was cute!  Jessica Lowndes is one of my favorite Hallmark Channel actresses and she was in that movie.

I’m also watching This Is Us, New Amsterdam, and A Million Little Things…all so good!

This was one of the hundred books I bought this summer at The Gospel Coalition Women’s Conference.  I’m almost done reading it, but it’s really made me more aware of my complaining and I’ve worked to be more thankful and grateful in hard seasons.


What I’m listening to…
My current favorite podcasts, Journeywomen and Royally Obsessed, and a little bit of Christmas music!!!


What I’m wearing…
Really nothing new.  In order to save money, I’ve really cut back on shopping for myself–as in, I haven’t bought myself anything in MONTHS.  I was able to buy a few new things with birthday money that I’ll share later, so these are the only outfit photos I have from this month.  It’s not really fun to take outfit photos when you aren’t wearing anything new haha!!

 I still love this workout tank (similar) and leggings.


 This tunic top and faux leather leggings are perfect for this time of year!  And these are the shoes that a sales lady at Nordstrom asked if they were Gucci 😂😂


 I was feeling the Sloan Ranger look on a cold Friday.  It was easy to pair a turtleneck sweater, puffer vest, jeans, and riding boots.


I wore this sweatshirt (that I’ve had since July) yesterday at school and Dustin said he really liked it since it made me look sporty haha!!  I paired it with these leggings.



What I’m doing this weekend…
I’m helping my sister with a wedding she’s shooting on Saturday!


What I’m looking forward to next month…
Being in the holiday spirit!!!!


What else is new…
Not much!
