Friday Faves: First Week of School!!

Hallelujah it’s finally Friday!!!!  The first week back to school is always the hardest and I am exhausted.  I am going to turn my phone on silent tonight and sleep in tomorrow morning!!!

Today’s post is going to be pretty short because I feel like I’ve been in a fog this entire week and literally haven’t taken any photos!  But before I get to my favorite things, I’ve been thinking a lot about infertility and adoption and so I hope to have a more “real” post out next week about my feelings currently.  

And we are still taking donations through PayPal for our adoption!!  I know August is such a hard month for some people because of all the back to school fees, but we are so very appreciative of anything donated!  Things are getting so close to being done and getting ready to go active!!  Eek!  And once we go active, we need about 15k-20k just in case we get matched with an agency that requires a match fee.  So for those who still want to donate to our fund, you can through paypal at paypal.me/DustinShaneyfelt    THANK YOU!!!


I didn’t get a photo from the first day of school and I wish I would have!!  I wore a cute yellowish dress from Anthro that I snagged a couple of years ago.  I stayed at school until 4 that afternoon working on things for the next day and then I came home to do more school work.  I made myself stop for dinner and then after dinner I relaxed in our bed drinking a La Croix and watching a Hallmark Christmas movie haha!  My favorite way to unwind!



I absolutely LOVE that Lilly finally has brought out longer hemlines.  Until now, I really have avoided buying lots of Lilly because all of the dresses are too short for me to wear to school and sadly, most of the clothes I buy I have to make sure I can wear them to school.  I had a gift card to use before our beach trip, so I picked up this dress.  I threw a blue jean jacket on over this for school since my district requires wider straps for the shoulders.


I hope y’all have a great weekend!!!  I’ll be working on our adoption profile book and scanning in all of our documents into a dropbox for our consultants!!

My Favorite Podcasts (….Right Now!)

I have become OBSESSED with podcasts in the last few months!  I feel like this is so crazy because I’m always such a music person, so it feels weird to be getting ready or cooking and listening to a podcast and not music.  But I’m not mad about it!

I realize now that I love learning, so listening to podcasts that allow me to learn while I’m busy driving or getting ready has been the best use of my time.  Now don’t get me wrong, I still listen to a lot of music ๐Ÿ˜‚

Before I share what my favorite podcasts have been lately, I probably should tell you that I’m not one of those crime podcast listeners or anything like that.  I mean, I don’t even like to watch Dateline or anything like that on tv, so I’m not listening to it on a podcast haha!


This has been my FAVORITE episode that I’ve listened to lately, HANDS DOWN!  I actually ended up stopping the episode a few times to write down quotes.  Some of my favorites were: “Until I understand who God is, I can never understand who He has designed me to be.”  and “Sound doctrine yields sound living.”

I listened to this while on the beach and cried ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚  I was thankful for sunglasses and a towel to wipe my tears on!

Jackie Hill Perry is my GIRL!  Love this episode of her!  I saw Jackie speak at The Gospel Coalition Women’s Conference back in June and her teaching is strong!

Yes to this one, too!  So convicting–especially when they talk about repentance.



I love listening to Al Mohler each week day because he gives world news from a Christian point of view.


The Big Boo Cast is the podcast I want to listen to when I want a good laugh!  Some of my favorite episodes were when they discussed the royal wedding!  Sophie Hudson is one half of the duo in the podcast and she lives in Birmingham!!



I don’t listen to these weekly, but there have been many times when I have a few free minutes so I scroll through to find something I want to listen to.

This was the very first episode I listened to from Risen Motherhood and it was so impactful because we had just started taking Clomid and I know the Lord put that episode in my hands to help prepare me for what was to come.  I now listen to RM a lot in order to prepare for motherhood!!

Friday Faves!

I don’t know if I want to start this one off with Happy Friday because I’m already back at school ha! ๐Ÿ˜œ  Teachers started back yesterday, and instead of doing our normal institute, we toured local industries!  I was a little unsure of this but I ended up really enjoying it!  I was sent to a local dairy industry and some of the places it supplies are McDonald’s soft serve ice cream and their frappes, Cold Stone Creamery, and the whip cream at Cheesecake.  I got to tour the entire plant and watch production and then at the end I got ice cream!  It was so interesting, and I really love watching how things are made.

Yesterday I also mentioned in my IG story that I tried two new (to me) things and am totally hooked.  First, I’m reading Crazy Rich Asians and so far I’m really enjoying it!  And Tuesday morning when I was putting on my make up, I accidentally broke my concealer wand off into the bottle.  Luckily I was almost out of that concealer, but I didn’t have time this week to drive to Sephora so I ran into Ulta since it’s closer and remembered that the Tarte Shape Tape was only carried at Ulta.  I decided to try it since everyone who has used it loves it and now I DO TOO!!!  I feel like it made my skin look flawless, so it may be a product that I buy just at Ulta haha!

Yesterday afternoon when I got home, I changed into my workout clothes and completed week 1 day 2 of BBG.  The workout is designed to complete on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, but I’m doing it on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.  I’m still struggling through the workouts but I know that they will get easier the more I do them.



One of my former students just started a blog and it’s so great!!!  Maggie was a student in my first year of teaching and now she’s a student at Alabama!





I’m finally caught up on Suits (except for this week’s episode)!!  I talked about starting to watch Suits at the end of May, so I spent all summer watching all 7 seasons.  Originally, I started watching after the royal wedding because of Meghan Markle, but it quickly turned into my favorite tv show because of the writing.  I’ve had so many people tell me they started watching Suits because of me, so if you’re looking to binge a new tv show, watch Suits on Amazon Prime video and then you can catch up with the current epiodes On Demand!!!
