Every Friday I do an adoption update on my personal Facebook page so that our friends and family know how to pray for us and because I’m sure people who have donated to our adoption want to know where we are in the process. But I realized I haven’t done one here yet!
We started this process in July. We announced we were adopting early July, got our acceptance email from FAC mid-July, started gathering paperwork for our home study shortly after we announced we were adopting and now here we are mid-August! Things are moving so much faster that we first expected–which is great!!! I’m thankful that I was off work in July so that I could really spend time gathering and filling out paperwork.
Pretty much everything is done on our end. We’re just waiting on a few things to come through. We’ve got our last home study visit in a few days, we’re waiting on our profile book to be completed (that should be by this weekend), and we’re waiting on our Texas clearances to come through ( a requirement from FAC in case we adopt from TX).
I don’t think it’s a lofty goal in hoping to be active by the end of September!! So what will that mean? We’ll be ready to match with a birth mom and the average wait for our agency is 4.5 months–so it could be quick! Please keep praying for us! The sooner we are active then the sooner we have to have proof of funds to our agency and we are almost 1/4th of the way to our goal! You can still give at paypal.me/DustinShaneyfelt or if you are local, you can mail or give to us in person!
Yesterday I went to my first consignment sale EVER!! My friend and her husband put on this massive consignment sale twice a year and I obviously have never had a need to go. I was blown away by how awesome the clothes were! She only accepts the good stuff so while I was scrounging the racks for gender neutral clothing, I kept wishing I knew what the gender would be because I kept passing up Feltman Brothers and Petit Ami! I didn’t find very many clothes but I did luck out and get a rock and play that I had on my list! Excellent quality and the best price! I plugged it in last night to show Dustin when he got home how it worked and I could have cried because it was so sweet–literally cannot wait to put a baby in it!
