Friday Faves!

Happy Friday, friends! I’m going to keep today’s post short and sweet because I’m watching The Mighty Ducks with Dustin on Disney+! Apparently this was his favorite movie growing up?! LOL! I think my favorite movie growing up was Hocus Pocus!

I think every month or two I’m going to recap the most popular items bought on the blog, so I’ll for sure be doing a post at the end of the month. But I thought it would be fun to share the most popular item from May and June…

…and it was THIS MOP!!! Which is so funny to me because after buying this and using Tide detergent to mop my floors, I mop every 5 or so days. I’m obsessed with keeping my floors clean and this makes it so easy because I’m not having to bend down and squeeze or ring anything out.

I’ve said this a million times, but I LOVE my Peloton! Cody Rigsby is by and far my favorite instructor to take a class from because he is hilarious! And he structures his class in a way that I’m able to push myself so much harder. I’m always beating my personal bests on his rides. Harrison is the biggest cuddler after he wakes up from his afternoon nap. One day he won’t want to lay on me and cuddle and I’ll have to look back at these pictures 🙂

Is it hot where you live? It’s unbearably hot here because the humidity makes the air so thick and awful. I’m glad Harrison loves being outside, but it’s really not possible right not to let him play outside a lot. We went for a walk yesterday morning while it was still in the low 80s. I want to make sure he isn’t overheating ever so I always bring along his sippy cup and use a stroller fan!

My blog post Wednesday was all about recent reads that I recommend. You’ll notice that once I find an author I like, I read a lot of his/her books until I’m ready to move on to another author haha!

If I’ve got the TV on during the day, you better believe it’s on Hallmark since it’s Christmas in July!! That’s been such a bright spot during this stressful time. And I just saw where Hallmark will be releasing 40 new Christmas movies this year….YAY!!!

Books I’ve Read Since March and Loved!

As probably a lot of us, I’ve had some extra time on my hands since March. Because of that, I’ve had extra time to read–which has been such a blessing. One reason I really love reading is because it’s an escape. While I’ve literally been stuck at home in Alabama, I’ve figuratively travelled all over the United Staes and even to the UK!

I’m only sharing the ones that I really enjoyed reading and would recommend. There are a few that I read that were okay to read, but I probably wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

Firefly Lane

This was the third Kristin Hannah book I’ve read in 2020 and I really liked it! Her books are so easy to connect to the characters and all of her characters have depth. This follows two best friends for a couple of decades, and because I value strong and loyal friendships, I really cried at the end of this novel. I’d say, though, out of the three I’ve read, I’d rank this one #3. The Nightingale is still #1 for me and The Great Alone is #2.

On Mystic Lake

Once I get on an author kick that I like, I like to stay with that author (which you’ll see). This book has some twists and turns in the plot that I didn’t see coming, but overall, I would recommend it to y’all! I’d have to rank this as #4 because I really thought the others were better–but don’t discount this one!!

Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating

I read a good handful of Christina Lauren books during the stay at home time and thought a few of them were funny! (I had already read The Unhoneymooners, so I knew her writing style.) Josh and Hazel were characters I really liked–and they are complete opposites. Hazel is more of a free thinker and Josh is very structured. They strike up a friendship which obviously leads to a romance, but I was rooting for them the whole book!

Love You, Love You Not

This one was HILARIOUS!! I had never heard of this author or book, so I took a chance on this being good–plus, it was cheap. The main character is immediately likable. All I could do while reading this was picture this novel as a movie and that made it even funnier. She’s a telenova actress who was killed off of her show, so she has to find a job to make ends meet. Long story short, she ends up “acting” in a job interview and gets a secretarial job to a very rich, but rude man. It’s a very easy read, so I recommend it if you need a laugh!

The Last Summer

This was a long book (400+ pages), but I flew through it in about 3 days. That’s how badly I wanted to know the ending. This book reminds me of both Downton Abbey and The Great Gatsby, and one of my friends texted and said it also reminded her of The Notebook–so all three really great books/shows! It takes place in Britain at the start of WWI, and we all know how that war changed everything for the British aristocracy. It always amazes me customs and etiquette of the past. I wish we still treated people with that type of respect 🙂

Evvie Drake Starts Over

I thought this book was so cute!!! It was another easy and fast read–the perfect escape from this crazy world right now. Evvie is young (they never say how old but I’m thinking low to mid 30s) and her husband dies suddenly in a car wreck. She lets her best guy friend’s friend rent out the attached apartment to her house and well…you can see where this goes. If you want something predictable and nice, read this book!

Do you have any books that you’ve read recently that you would recommend? I’m still on my library’s waiting list for the latest Elin Hilderbrand book and need something in the mean time.

Friday Favorites!

Happy Friday!!! I am late writing this because I’m actually writing it on Friday morning. I sat down to write my post last night after I was completely ready for bed and fireworks started going off in what sounded like the field behind our house. Unfortunately, Harrison woke up screaming and it was a rough night for us until around midnight. Those fireworks better not go off tonight otherwise I’m about to hunt those people down LOL!

As usual, I’m sharing some FAVORITES with y’all today!!!

My show is finally back!! The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has become my favorite Housewives franchise. They took off the past 3 weeks from airing new shows, so this week they finally came back with a new one. I’ve watched about half of the episode and cannot wait for the rest!

Speaking of Housewives, a franchise in Utah should be airing soon and that’s one that I’m really excited about!

I baked chocolate chip cookies one night after dinner this past week, and Harrison went to town on his! We laughed so hard at his face after eating that cookie!

I’ve had some people ask about the high chair I got Harrison and it’s this one! I actually went off of a reader recommendation! So far, my only complaint is that I wish the tray was a little deeper because the divided plate I bought him doesn’t fit, but that’s my only complaint! It’s been east to operate and easy to clean which is very important! And it’s looked really sleek in our dining room.

I just got these in the mail and tried one out last night. It was easy to put on–my only wish was that they were tinted so I could see if I missed a spot on my face. It tingled a little after putting it on, but I have very sensitive skin. I let it dry for a few minutes and then skipped my retinol and just put on moisturizer. Since it’s a gradual glow (I opted for that for the first time instead of the intense glow), I’ll probably use another in a couple of days until I build up color and then just use for maintenance once a week.

Harrison was cheesing big time yesterday because I put a blanket in an old laundry basket, and he had a blast playing in it!

The water table has been our go-to to beat the heat these days. And I’ve been sticking it on the back patio with the fan going so we stay a little cooler.

I finished this book in three days last week!! (I am a very fast reader.) It was really good and blended elements of Downton Abbey and The Great Gatsby, so if you liked those then you’ll like this book. It starts at the beginning of WWI–which we know changed everything for the British aristocracy. Again, such a good storyline!

Okay, I’m off to make Harrison some breakfast–have a great weekend!!
