Happy President’s Day! I hope you’re off of work like I am today, or if you aren’t, I hope your workday isn’t chaotic and crazy 🙂
Today is my 5th Simple Joys post. I believe it’s very important to take a timeout when things get busy and reflect on all of the simple joys that the Lord has given you–“simple” being the key word.
1. My afternoon cup of coffee. I used to drink a cup of coffee or a spark in the morning before school, but I would still be tired all day long. I’ve found that if I drink a cup of coffee when I get home from school (around 4pm), then that gives me the energy boost I need to stay awake until it’s bedtime. It’s the only caffeine I drink all day and I really look forward to having it!
2. My nighttime tea. I’ve started drinking a sleepy time tea blend at night before bed. I got this kettle for my birthday and I’ve been so surprised at how fast it heats up. I add a teaspoon of honey because the tea doesn’t have the best taste on its own. Now, I’m not positive that it helps me to fall asleep, but I like having something warm before bed and just the idea of a calming tea at night gives me something else to look forward to. It’s been nice to add to my nightly routine to help me unwind from the day.
3. Next in Fashion. Have you watched this yet on Netflix? I’m not going to give any spoilers, but I’m so glad the winner was who it was. I literally cheered out loud when they called out the winner ha! I think Next in Fashion is much better than Project Runway because they are all so positive toward one another all the time–even the judges who critique in a positive way. I loved all of the challenges, too!

4. Harrison napping on me. Harrison had some sort of virus last week that caused him to have extremely high fevers. (People said fever virus but our doctor didn’t call it that???) Harrison is always so busy that the only time he actually naps on me these days is when he’s sick. He may have sweated all over me last week, but I’ll take it! I just can’t get over his cute cheeks and mouth while he naps and I want to kiss them a million times 😂
5. Harrison’s curly hair. I cannot believe he has curly hair! It’s a wild mess but I love it–it matches his personality haha! I just can’t believe he’s going to be ONE so soon–time has just flown by. He’s jabbering away and into everything at our house, so coming from this woman who just KNEW I was meant to be a girl mom, being a boy mom has been the best thing to happen to me. I can’t wait for this summer off from school where we can go swimming and go on picnics and walks in our neighborhood!
