Harrison’s First Birthday Party

I’m so excited to share with y’all pictures from Harrison’s first birthday!  Rachel took these pictures as Harrison’s gift, so if you’re in the market for any kind of photographer, you need to hire Rachel!!

Rachel took over 800 pictures and ended up editing over 200 to give to us, so I’m sharing just a small portion of what we have!  I love them all 🙂

Ever since Harrison was born, I’ve been thinking about his first birthday.  I had first thought I wanted to do a theme, but then I realized that the small details would equal $$$, and I wanted to wait until he actually liked something before doing a theme.  I ended up choosing colors to base his party around and loved how it all came together.

Life Lately

We’ve had a lot going on lately and I’m hoping that things slow down.  But I wanted to share a few things that happened in February.  We ended the month celebrating a BIG birthday!!

-I got a Peloton for Christmas and started out strong, but sicknesses lately (strep for me and a fever virus for H) got me off track.  I’ve still ridden it every week but I’d like to go back to 3 times a week.  It’s been so nice just being able to go upstairs to workout because sometimes I don’t get started until after 8pm.

-I listen to a lot of Christian-based podcasts but sometimes I like to mindlessly listen to one while I’m cleaning or working on something.  I really like Teddi from RHOBH so I’ve been listening to her podcast, Teddi Tea Pod.  The episodes are long so I never listen to a full one in one sitting, but I like her so I keep listening.  Any ones y’all recommend that I could listen to mindlessly?  (Nothing crime-related!)

**Also, today marks the one year anniversary of us meeting Harrison!  He was 4 days old by the time we got to him, so today will always be so special to me.  To read about that from last year, click here.  And for a longer post, click here.

 Waking up extra early calls for breakfast at Cracker Barrel!  I still can’t get Harrison to eat eggs and he was too busy people watching to eat the back up food I brought…oh well!


 Both Dustin and I were home with Harrison to celebrate his FIRST birthday!  He was very excited to go eat lunch at Chick-fil-a!


 And we celebrated his first birthday Saturday!  I can’t wait to share the rest of the pictures once they are edited!


My sweet friend, Hailey, took this picture of us singing to Harrison.  He looked so excited to eat his cake (his first time ever having sugar) but once I set it down, he was not into it at all. Didn’t like the taste or anything!

Harrison is ONE YEAR OLD!!

Happy first birthday, my sweet baby.

Life with you has been the absolute sweetest.

You are my pride and joy, my heart, and my answered prayer.

You are a beautiful reminder of God’s sovereignty over our lives.

You arrived 5 weeks early on February 27th at 11:46pm–very unexpectedly early for your birth mom and dad and still unknown to us because we wouldn’t find out about you until the next day.  I think a lot about what I was doing that day and how I had no idea that my baby was about to be born.

You weighed 4 lbs 7 oz and were 17 inches long.

Now you’re 20 lb 7 oz!

You have kept us on our toes since day 1!  From keeping your poor mom stressed out the whole time we were in the NICU and Texas with you (you were so TINY and I was so clueless!!!!) to constantly keeping my eye on you because you’re either trying to get in the warming drawer or play with the blinds ha!  And you even try to crawl in the pantry if we’ve left the door open for more than a second 😜

You crawl super fast but haven’t quite figured out how to walk on your own.  You have zero teeth but love eating table foods.  The organic puffs we feed you are your favorite because you get so excited when you see us pull the bottle out of the cabinet.

You love bath time and books.  And It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is still the only thing you watch on TV.  Your hair is so curly and beautiful.

This past year has flown by, Harrison.  While I’m sad that you are no longer a baby, I’m so excited to see the boy and man you will grow up to be.  I pray the Lord uses you for His glory and to further His kingdom!
