Friday Favorites

Happy Friday a little later than normal :). Instead of writing this last night like normal, I was asleep before 9 pm and this morning I’ve enjoyed a slow morning with my family before writing this–much needed!

As always, I’m sharing a few FAVORITES with y’all today!

Sleeping babies will forever be my FAVORITE! These are just two pictures I snapped this past week, but I love looking at them sleeping–they are so peaceful and no one is crying or acting ugly LOL

My sister, who is 37 weeks pregnant, went to my OB appointment with me on Wednesday! It was my 20 week anatomy scan and I’m glad she came with me in order to ask about things like placenta location (I definitely would not have thought about that ha!). I also joked that she could go ahead and go into labor because she’d be at a doctor’s office full of OBs and right next to a hospital. Everything went great at my appointment and we got great pictures of Merritt!

We had our annual Veterans Day program at school on Wednesday! I really REALLY love the people I work with! I’ve had people ask me before how I’ve taught 7th grade my whole career (because we all know 7th graders are veeeeeeerrrrry interesting) and I always tell them it’s because I teach with people who have become my family. If I taught anywhere else, I don’t think I could have made it as long. But the faculty at my school are more than just coworkers–we’re family– and I know it’s not like that at all work places.

There’s a traveling coffee truck in my town that I am obsessed with! Their coffee tastes soooo good. Yesterday our district had a virtual day for students and it was a professional day for teachers. The coffee truck came to school and each teacher got 1 cup of coffee paid for! Because I’m only drinking one cup of coffee a day, I skipped my normal morning coffee at home and waited until I got to school–it was such a treat to drink my coffee during the faculty meeting :). I ordered the marble mocha this time, and it was mocha with white chocolate….so good!

I ordered these Uggs not too long ago and they should be delivered Monday at the latest. I felt like I needed a super comfortable shoe to wear around this winter, and I’ve heard really great things about this shoe. It says indoor and outdoor slipper, but I plan on wearing it out only. I can’t wait for these to arrive!

I hope y’all have a great weekend and Happy Veterans Day to all who served! My dad served in the Air Force, and I’m thankful for his service!

Wow, this week has felt SUPER long! The best thing about this week is that a cold front has finally hit north Alabama and it feels like Christmas–which means we obviously had to start putting Christmas decor out LOL! I’ll share below for my weekly FAVORITES!

Harrison’s tree was the first one we put up in the house this past week. He was THRILLED! After I put his lights and star on his tree, I let him put his ornaments on, and of course they are all in one spot on the tree–BUT it’s his tree and this year I’m letting him do his own thing! I’m going to go back and hang some balls on it or maybe a garland, so his tree is almost complete.

I went to Sephora to find a new foundation and this is what was recommended to me by the sales worker. First, I was super hesitant because I don’t really feel like celeb owned make up brands are that great. But the sales girl seemed extremely knowledgeable about make up, so I took a chance. I’m glad I did! I have really been enjoying this foundation! It applies so smoothly, gives great coverage without being too heavy, and stays on really well throughout the day. It’s also a clean brand and I’m working on trying to clean up my make up. I’ll get on IG stories today so y’all can see my foundation on!

I’m so grateful to the Lord for building our family through adoption! While adoption is something we cherish, we can’t forget that adoption is born out of a tragedy. I am grateful to both Harrison’s and Banks’s birth families for choosing Dustin and I to parent their sons and become their forever parents. My boys are truly the best gift and would never have been possible without adoption. If you have any questions and may want to pursue adoption, I’d love to share my story or you can search my blog for adoption posts. I don’t share my boys’ stories because those are theirs, but I openly share mine!

Halloween this year was COLD!!! Banks was asleep before we went out, so he literally slept pretty much the entire time and woke up maybe the last 10 minutes of trick or treating. Harrison lost his collar Sunday night after our church’s fall festival, so he’s Snoopy minus his collar ha! He had the best time running to each door–it brought me so much joy watching him and I can’t wait for Banks and Merritt to join him one day. My sister and BIL Nick came over to walk with us (we just stayed around our neighborhood) and I loved that we were all together. Next year she will have Wiley (my new nephew!!!) and Merritt will be with us 🙂

Speaking of Merritt, I hit the 20 week mark yesterday. I have my anatomy scan next week and I haven’t seen her since 11 weeks, so I’m excited. I bought this sweater dress to wear this winter in hopes it will accommodate a growing belly :). It’s super soft and feels close to cashmere without the price of cashmere (way cheaper), and I just bought my normal size! I keep finding clothes I want to buy–like a new pair of jeans–and then I remember I can’t buy anything right now aside from something like above because I won’t be fitting into anything for a while LOL

Happy Friday, y’all! I’m back at school today after being off for two days because poor Banks tested positive for RSV Wednesday. Dustin is home today with him. It’s always so sad when your babies are sick.

This is literally my #1 FAVORITE for this week! I read this book in 3 days–which for me and my crazy schedule, is a big deal. I love Amy Lea’s adult books so much, so when she recently published this YA novel, I wondered how her writing would translate. In short–she did PHENOMENAL! I was so obsessed with this storyline that I didn’t want it to end. It’s like a 13 going on 30 plot except the main character, Charlotte, is 17 and after a fall, wakes up engaged to her biggest enemy from high school. I LOVED this story so much! I would let my 8th grade daughter read it and I’m recommending it to everyone I know–if you end up reading it, let me know what you think!

I just recently finished my setting powder I’ve been using and let me say, I love this stuff more than the Laura Mercier translucent powder that I used to use–and this is about 1/3 the price! I apply this over my concealer to set it, or if I’m not wearing concealer, then I apply it under my eyes and on any area that tends to get a little oily. I saw this recommended from a make up artist I follow on IG and this product did not disappoint–time to buy again!

I celebrated my birthday on Wednesday and had my first ever gluten free birthday cake since this is the first birthday that I’ve know about my gluten allergy. I was nervous (and a little sad too) about getting a gf cake because most gf baked goods are gross. But this cake was AMAZING!!! Dustin even said he might want his next birthday cake from the bakery that made my cake because it seriously is so good–which works in my favor haha! This is the vanilla birthday cake flavor but I was also considering the snickerdoodle or wedding cake flavor.

I’ve had some questions about my lip color, so I thought I’d share it here since I pretty much wear this combination year round. I line my lips with Soar and then I also do a rough color in of my lips in order to keep my lipstick on longer–that’s the key. Then I put on my lipstick, which is Fabby. Here’s the good news: BOTH OF THOSE ARE ON SALE!!!

My mom got me this book for my birthday and I’m excited to dig into it! It covers daily habits like work, screen time, discipline, etc, so I can’t wait to read and hopefully implement new habits and rhythms.
